Rage ATM unbelievable live sound!

Is it just me but in all my years of outside gigs, I have NEVER heared a band sound so amazing as Rage Against The Machine this month!

Maybe it's just the quality of PA's getting better but RATM sound so crispy clear and smooth it's great and I think the crowd buzz off of it.

Maybe they just have the best Sound Guy/Tech??

Not sure why but i expected Rage to be quite substandarded sounding live and i was blown away but the sheer quality of their sound at Download. It was brilliant.

My highlight of the weekend

I was honestly expecting overhyped, underperforming champagne socialists. What I got was a rock solid performance that kept me hooked right until the last note.

They were the best of the weekend, which shows up AC/DC with their trains, bells, cannons, inflatable angus, rosie etc. a big red star and some lights. I know which band I would rather watch at download again.

I remember Copping saying (on Twitter?) that the RATM set wouldn't have any of the sound problems associated with their sets at Leeds/Reading '08 so they probably put a lot of effort into getting it right. Which is a damn good thing as far as I am concerned - it was just perfect. Everything was just outstandingly clear where I was, which I never expected :D

Oh, and I'd like to add another x1000 to the previous comment.

I totally agree with the comments about Rage In the past they've always been a take it or leave it band for me and I've never rushed out to buy there albums. I decided to watch them at download for the same reason i watched AC/DC, to be able to say I've seen them but after 2 minuets I was completely into there set and by the end of there set i was a fan, that is one of the top 5 gig's I've ever been to and possibly the best outdoor gig. The sound was some of the best of the weekend and I'm really pleased to be able to say i saw them.

agree with everyone here. i was at the Finsbury Park gig, and thought before the event 'i can see Rage now and then go see Thirty Seconds to Mars at Download'. turns out Rage were so unbelievably good at Finsbury i had to go see them again 6 days later, and i no way do i regret it, astonishing live band!
