taking kids to Glastonbury...

We've got a 10 month old baby who we're bringing to Glastonbury this year. She's very chilled and sleeps through the night.

We have a camper van but are wondering whether it would be best to camp in the family field instead...or any other suggestions?? All the local B& B's seem to be booked up. Hmmm what to do?

Depends what you want. the camper van field is a bit of a trek but its got that element of remoteness that you might want "we'll go back to the festival tomorrow, now its time for sleep" whereas the family field is much closer to the heart of the festival, thats not to say its not chilled out though. One of the major attractions of the cockmills family field is its proximity to the kidz field (inc a tent with baby changing facilities etc), the main stage (so you can nip out and see your fav band unencumbered) and the food stalls in the markets - not to mention the sub aqua club who will provide food/tea/bottle warming/conversations and just about everything else you didn't know you needed at odd moments.

My son is 15mo and this will be his second glastonbury and his 6th festival, one thing I've learned is that no matter what he does at home the bustle of a festival, the noises and the daylight is all very exciting, don't presume that any routine you may have is transferable to a field :) go with the flow, make sure you both get some organised child free time and factor in walking at half speed with a buggy (if you've got one with pneumatic tyres it will be sooo much easier to maneuver).

It will be great :) you really don't need a B&B, glastonbury is not about trying to transpose your current life into a field!

oh and go and stock up on cheap sun hats that tie under the chin :)
