I was looking at the line up and thinking just how many bands i'm not bothered about, which worried me slightly. So, for reassurance, i looked at the clashfinder (http://bugs.rdmsoft.com/leeds/ ) and totalled up how many bands i reckon i'll see over the weekend, presuming the clashfinder is accurate. I also estimated how much each act would cost to see at an individual gig, just to show myself how good the value for money is!

So, i reckon i'll be seeing 25 bands, maybe a few more as i'm skipping on a couple to allow for beer runs.

And that if i was to go see each of these bands individually, it would cost around £470, but that's a very rough estimate.

It's a very sad thing to do and it does re-establish the pointlessness of my life, but it really proves just how good value Leeds fest is, even though it is still fecking expensive.

Anyone else care to have a try?

25 bands is a load! Better off with a lot of bands you don't want to see as your weekends clearly full!

But yeah I agree I definately get my money worth, and you got to consider you can't even buy a gig ticket any time soon in England for libertines, blink, guns, weezer, limp bizkit, qotsa and even cypress hill is a rare see!

I'd say I'd toll up to 300ish if I went to individual gigs

I worked out that there was 26 bands i could possibly get to see. Sunday at Leeds is easy because there all on the main stage! It should be quite easy to see them all but as long as i get to see the bands i wanna see then ill be happy.

470 quid is a lot of money and i was thinking about working this out, if you dont go see any other bands and just wait for leeds then you are saving alot of money. However leeds is a lottery you just dont know who is going to be there and if its worth your while

There is 28 bands that I will most defiantly be seeing...

As there are a bunch of clashes... I won't be missing the 28 bands above for the 25 other bands

So all in all that is 52 bands I want to see... I'm seeing 28 of them I'm defiantly seeing...

Even at a £10 per gig (GnR is probably +£50) it covers the ticket cost and the train journey up to Leeds :P

I got 22 bands i want to see. Will probs see some others im not too fussed about. and may miss some I wanna see due too lazyness/drunkeness/hungoverness.

Think I estimated a cost of... £400. Although, Alot of the bands i'd see are more likley to be supports than headliners (I tried to compensate this in thier price). So i shall knock £100 off due to shorter sets. £300.

£200 for a ticket (Roughly), I normally spend £70 on food and booze for the weekend - £270

+£30 up at this point. Not a huge bonus. But then if you factor in the campsite....

£40 (£10 a night) for camping spot (slightly overpriced, but simple maths)

To someup the price of meeting new people.... Dating direct years subscription is about £100, and i figured if I was a very horny guy and wanted to meet people 1 year worth of dating site would = new people I meet and hang out with over the weekend at Reading.

to summerise, £270 a ticket + expences for an experiance of £440. I'd say thats worth the experince.

-Disclaimer, dating site was used as a figure for people who wanted to meet other people. Not sex related at all.

Be lucky to see even half a set for a lot of bands, a lot of bands won't have their full production with them etc, I personally find a lot of day time sets to be very mediocre and sometimes spoiled by sub par sound which you would rarely get indoors at their own gig and often completely lacking in atmosphere - which again you wouldn't get to the same extent at their own gig.

I can think of very few bands I've seen who I thought had a better set/show than at their own gigs

Right I've just worked this out for me at leeds.

Last year I saw 25 bands at a total gig cost of roughly £524 Factoring in shorter sets etc I'd bring the value for money down to £400. Spent Rougly £150, £190 on Tixs £340 so I'm £60 to the good.

This Year I am planning on seeing 26 bands at a total gig cost of roughly £565. With the bands I am going to see fatoring in rare appearances exclusives and the shorter times etc Id bring the value for money down to £500. Tix rougly £210 estimated spend £150 = £360 so I'm £140 to the good.

This is all before factoring in silent disco, picadilly party, relentless tent, Dance to the radio, alternative stage, alternative stage after hours performances, Camping, Meeting new people. This could easily add a value of £200 back onto the festival.

Still though if you think just a few years back it was much cheaper for the tickets. I still think its a hell of a lot of money...
