Reading early entry

I've got the Reading earlybird ticket and I'm not sure what time me and my mates should get there.

Went to the train station and they said we could get a train that arrives in Reading at 3:50pm, but obviously the queue will be pretty big I'm guessing.

What time would people recommend getting there? They open the gates at 6 don't they?

Well last year, we got a bus (we are fortunate to live about 40 mins away) at about 9am. We arrived at the site at about 10ish and there was a small queue outside the site on the road. After about 40 minutes, the Reading staff let us into the queuing area inside the site and after a further hour or so, they let us in proper. So we got in at around midday? And there wasn't a horrific queue at that time. To be honest, I don't rekon you'll have that much of a queue at all, seeing as us early entrys are in the minority compared to the total mass of festival goers.

Aim for midday if you can, but be prepared with some beers incase they are slow to open up the site :)

Yep, they said this the previous 2 years and both times they let us in around mid-day :)

To be honest, what ever time you get there on Wednesday, there will be acres of space left and not a particularly massive queue.

We just get there as early as possible to get the party started asap :D

Hi

Early bird is always officially stated for late afternoon 4-6pm access to site, but always it opens early as soon as mean fiddler give the go ahead taht the majority of heavy equipment is out of the way they open the site. Im speaking from 11 years experience and every year they have allowed wednesday entry (04 if memory serves) :-)

We generally arrive at 9am setup in the queue crack a few tinnies and banter with security til they let us in lol.

ps i was also the 1st in the queue last year at white car park entrance but didnt get to cut the ribbon over the bridge for the offcial start as i was too busy helping my missus carry stuff lol but it was cool standing next to melvin and the cameras :-)
