disco-dani
I've not driven to a festival before, was just wondering if anyone knows: How long you que for the carpark? How safe the carparks are? Are there only 2 gates in from the carpark? Any other useful info is also welcomed
ivan
The q for the car parks is not too bad to be honest now that they open from 3 am Thursday. You have to bear that the Festival is stuck between the A1 and the sprawling city of Leeds so I would avoid rush hour traffic times (thats why they open at 3.00am ) The car parks are safe enough ! Do you mean gates to get into the campsite and arena;s ! Where and when are you travelling from , I you are going Thurs I would try and get in before morning rush hour , I got there at 6.00 am last year and it was an absolute doddle , lots of people there but NO qing ! kev1664
I'm driving for the first time this year also. But I noticed the last two years that the drop off point and the cars parking go in through the same entrance so I imagine the later you go the busier it will get. On the queing note. Last year we got dropped off by minibus and at the gate before you swap your tickets for wristbands there was a small queue (no more than 100 people) when we arrived at approx. 6am. However the queue was taking ages to reduce in size we were stood till about 8:30 and had moved about 10foot. However all of a sudden the queue started moving quickly. The problem was that the sequrity were checking every single persons belongings. There must have been some sort of mix up. I'm hoping this does not happen this year. I am planning on arriving at 3:00 am. I remember chatting on here about this last year and found that this was the only entrance where delays happened. Did anyone arrive at 3:00 am last year? How much space was there in the campsites near to the arena (white and yellow[i think])? and most importantly ......... was it hard to put the tent up in darkness? Cheers
ivan
Best thing to do is come off the A1 at the A64 and get onto site that way , I rolled in at 6.00am and it was busy but I was off the A64 and parked up in minutes. You came via Leeds which is not the best way to be honest mate !! Got through the gates no problem , just the odd spot check ! Cannot say about White and Yellow , we camp in brown and at 9.00 am Thursday there were only a few tents up !

At T in the park the do not allowed re entry into the car park.

stephen07
Hey ! The traffic should be fine , the problems of the past ( not last year ) were due to the fact that they opened the car parks at the same time as the morning / evening rush hour. Last year they changed it to 3.00 am Thursday , so plenty of people made sure they were in well away from that times. My mate rolled up last year Thursday afternoon and it was a doddle. Camping spaces will be fine , but like any festival certain places fill up first. We always camp in brown which is the quiet site , and furthest from the arena and it never fills up , I was there 6.00 am Thursday and there were only a handful of tents in. Yes you can leave the car parks , but Sunday is the busiest day ( lots more day tickets sold ) so chose your time carefully .

Owenny
Don't think we'll be arriving til some point on Friday now, probably about 2pm. Is there still likely to be some spaces in the campsite and the car park at that time? Also for Leeds do you need to buy a car park ticket?
