Forget Specsavers, you should have gone to GLASTONBURY!

The snobbery and oneupmanship of some of the Glastonbury attenders on this board never ceases to amaze me. I've never been to Glastonbury, mainly because of circumstances and things getting in the way as opposed to not wanting to, but due to the complete lack of things to do outside of seeing bands at R/L, I can only assume that it's a better all round festival.

There's plenty of reasons that people choose a festival like R/L over Glastonbury. For many, it's a more convenient time of year, with better transport links and location. And as others have mentioned, those who attend a festival purely to see music could well be better catered for at R/L. I like how easy it is to see plenty of bands throughout the weekend and move quickly between stages. Especially for those who like heavier music (which is horrendously under-represented at Glastonbury, for completely outdated reasons,) the lineup could easily not be to your preference at Glastonbury. Though there was plenty I liked this year, it was a relatively poor lineup on the whole.

Of course, none of this will stop threads of this ilk appearing every year.

they are both good festivals for very different reasons.

some glasto goers on here are very snobby and narrow minded towards other festivals.

but then non glasto goers on here are also narrow minded if they will judge a whole festival based on a few arseholes on these forums.

I've never been to Reading or Leeds as neither have held any appeal. I have however done a few V festivals and that gets its fair share of bashing!

To compare a festival like Glastonbury to festivals such as Reading/Leeds/V/TITP etc is ridiculous. The latter festivals focus on music and this is fantastic for people who only want that at a festival. I have had amazing times at V festival with mates, just going from stage to stage watching music all day. Glastonbury has so many other things going on which personally I prefer. However, I probably wouldn't count out attending a music festival such as V again, it would have to take a pretty spectacular line up though!.

It is all down to personal preference and the sort of experience you want. To compare them is nothing short of idiotic. And OP needs to stop acting like a know it all and leading authority on what constitutes a great festival. A absolutely love Glastonbury but it does have it's faults and is not perfect.

Not all of us on here are Glastonbury snobs you know B)

Personally I love both glasto and reading, although am tending to go off Reading as I get older/my music tastes change (as a teen I was proper into rock/metal, but now into more dancey stuff) which is only natural. The thing I love about glasto is the sheer variety of genres on show which suits me fine.

To me Reading is just a big 3 day gig in a field rather than a festival, and has been for a while now. Maybe that is partly due to not camping and going home every night, but there is no way I'm gonna camp out when I live here! :)

I think I'll always go to Reading but only really as it would be rude not to living so close!

My god Dave, you are trolling this on every forum hoping to get a rise out of people.

I did Leeds festival 2003-2008 and have done Glasto in 1999, 2009 & 2010. It is really hard to compare the two but id say Leeds festival is for the music and Glastonbury is for the overall experience.

I love Leeds festival, it has alot more metal/punk/rock bands than Glastonbury and is catered solely for the music. I loved sitting all day infront of the mainstage watching band after band getting wrecked. The reason I changed my choice of festival was after the riots of 2008 which were the worst Ive seen, as I was leaving yellow bubble was practically ablaze, its a shame as I absolutely love Leeds festival but to me its no way to end an amazing weekend.

The last two years Ive been on a stag weekend and my honeymoon to Glastonbury. Its much more hard work than Leeds as theres miles more walking to get camped and get round the place. The Thursday this year we had a 10 mile round trip to get our booze and take it back to our tents. Glastonbury is alot of effort but it is really worth doing, even if the lineups not to your taste its worth it at least once. The size of the place is amazing, the ammount of detail that goes into the setup is unreal. Once your in it really is catered to having an amazing time, you can walk around anywhere with your own booze and every field has a different feel to it. The Saturday this year I saw two bands all day, Biffy and Muse, im a music fan who loves watching bands but the Saturday was my favourite day at Glasto this year as the experience I had that day was amazing.

I hope to do Leeds festival again in the next few years as hopefully people will report on here that the riots have calmed down. I love both festivals plus Isle of Wight (amazing festival) but hate the elitist attitude of people on here when it comes to Glastonbury, yes I'll agree it is the best all round festival in the country but that doesnt mean that all the other festivals are rubbish. Will glasto ever have SOAD and Metallica back to back on the mainstage (Leeds 2003)....no.....will it ever have ACDC perform on their own stage.....no.....but do the other festivals have places such as the Stone Circles, Arcadia, Shangri-la like Glasto.....no......its these differences that make each festival special in their own right.

I went to Glasto a few years back and had a stunning time.

Tried to get tickets this time (12hours on the phone and internet from ticket release with no success)

Booked tickets to Reading and was glad that i missed Glasto this year as the music wasn't to my taste.

If the whole world went to just one festival itd be even harder to get tickets. Similarly I am favourable to trying lots of different festivals so fancied a change from Glasto. :-)

The Original Poster is a f**king c**t. Please don't think all us Glastonbury goers are pretentious snobby w*nkers like him.

Plus who is to say that you can't go one if you go to the other. There is no law preventing this.

Also If you love Glastonbury so much, why the f**k do you want MORE people vying for tickets, it's bad enough tryin got get them as it is.

Basically to sum up to the OP...SHUT THE f**k UP!

If I could only go to one fest it would be Glastonbury, but I like having Glastonbury to take it easy and Leeds to get drunk and see loads of acts. There is loads of room for both and there are plenty of other fests all over the UK. We're very lucky to live in a country with so many fests. there's no point in sticking to one or two.

Whilst others would love to see them back but don't give a toss about all the indier than thou bands you're into.

OPINIONS!

Going back to the OP's original question, I've thought of one genuine reason above personal preference/taste etc, where Reading is actually better than Glasto- FLAG BAN

Sorry, I thought you're always banging on about My Bloody Valentine, Echo and the Bunnymen etc. Many couldnt give a f**k if they never turned up, as I said though, everyone's got an opinion and it is a message board to air them, so I should have said nothing, you're allowed to post what you like. Apologies.

Metallica every 5 years is ace in my opinion, at least they dont seem to do a 2-3 year rotation like Muse and Foo Fighters used to
