Daft Punk or Chemicals?

Was gassed last night and having a barney with my mate about who is the better dance act, Chemicals or Daft Punk. I said it was Chemicals based on the quality of their albums and despite Daft Punks live show being one of the greatest things I've ever seen, Chemicals (particularly at T in 2008) are immense live with their visuals. If DP had made an album since 2005's 'Human After All', my answer may have been different.

I know there will probably be a unanimous swing towards Daft Punk but I was just curious what others thought....

(BTW, tried to make a poll, failed miserably!!)

Chemicals 2 - Daft Punk 0

I think they are better overall. Haven't seen Daft Punk live so I can't completely judge, although I think the Chemical Brothers new album with tunes like Swoon and Further edges it.

Tune for tune I think they are better too.

Chemical Brothers:

Hey Boy, Hey girl

Saturate

Block Rockin' Beats

Do It Again

Salmon Dance

Swoon

The Pills Won't Help You Now

Escape Velocity

Galvanize

Chemical Beats

Believe

Get High (cant remember what its called)

Daft Punk:

One More Time

Around the World

Aerodynamic

Digital Love

Robot Love

Da Funk

Technologic

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Crescendolls

Face to Face

Human Afterall

Television Rules the Nation

Poleski and I had this discussion recently and botha greed Chemicals far out classed DP.

DP are good and do get god like status mostly as they have a mind for marketing & PR... the whole mystery of who they are (clearly justice :P), the live show, dissapearing for years when they are in high demand etc.

When you really look at it though they are no better than any other big dance act about atm who have some hits.

Woah, hard choice to say the least! I like the new Chemical Brothers album(especially Horse Power, what a choon though my sister says it sounds like he's saying "b*llocks.... power" lol) and all their big ones, a DJ in the Clash dropped Push The Button which made me have Chems cravings and just imagine Hey Boy Hey Girl at Rockness, just the hyped up crowd on the hills then "hey boy... Hey girl....superstar DJs...... HERE WE GO!) Though the return of Daft Punk would be epic, i love so many of their tracks, they have the most killer show set-up, would be the Rockness equivelant of the second coming of Jesus and it would be mental. Slightly more enclined towards Daft Punk but i'm still undecied  ...............................................

What I love about Rockness and the efest forum in particular is the love for the fest and the acts. The enthusiasm for everything EDM convinced me to go and I thank you all for that.

Anyway, I love the chems, love the tunes and still found the show rather boring at carling cos i kept it tidy. My mate who saw the DP in london loved them and nearly comparable, he thought they were amazing. But after Ibiza nights (got really messy at times), working for promo company and free gigs and seeing well over 600 gigs in my life not including festivals, I can honestly say that I am not too cool for school and say that leftfield makes my top 20 gigs ever, chillies, dylan, new order, chems don't make it.

But as rach in her own way says its about what you love. And thats great. I love that rach loves them., and I love that others love the DP and chems.

I've never seen DP, but I couldn't care if their 'better' than the chems. If I enjoy it and they are both at next years rockness then great.

I'd go for Daft Punk. I've seen The Chemical Brothers a few times and they are amazing especially TITP 08 but Daft Punk are something else. Watching Chemicals is great but watching Daft Punk is an experince you'll never forget. Like any great gig it's a mix of great music and that little bit extra that they have. They would still be immense if they just turned up with a set of decks and were dressed normal but the fact they put on a real show gives them that bit extra.

As for comparing the two acts tune for tune, it's hardly fair considering Chemicals have 7 studio albums (including the newest) whereas Daft Punk only have 3.
