I dont agree with many of john gaunts viewpoints. However I dont have a problem with him being able to air them either on radio or in print. I am quite capable of ignroing them but think people who share his views should have access to them if they choose.

People like him, Richard Littlejohn, the Daily Mail, etc etc, are dangerous. They legitimise ignorant punters' ill thought out opinions on things they know nothing about, and do nothing constructive but spread hate and fear.

Jon Gaunt doesn't have opinions, he states what is 'right' and you're (not you specifically) a stupid lefty for not realising that...

I don't know of any mainstream, vaguley left wing publications, that has an equivalent of Jon Gaunt, or Littlejohn, or any number of their ilk....

From experience of listening to radio he is not the only presenter who thinks they are always right. He has right wing opinion which are shared by many of the people who listen to him. Trying to act as a moral guardian and filtering out these right wing views will only play in the hands to people like the BNP who can promote the arguemnt of the left wing press ignoring the common man. There are people in the country with strong let wing views and those with strong right wing views. These people are entitled to stand for parliment and be elected if enough people agree with them. However despite the likes of gaunt having a platform when it comes to elections the british people generally send out the messgae that they dont want either an extreme left or right wing government runing the country.

I don't get this idea that an election is an indication of what the british, as a whole, want at all. It doesn't make sense. What it is, is each single persons options are counted up... it's not an en-masse collective consciousness event.

The general public, on numerous occasions, have indicated that they don't like Gaunt. But because of his relatively high profile, and extreme views, he'll get paid by someone for what he does. Nothing to do with how highly his opinions are regarded, controversy gets listeners/viewers/readers...

It is a good question though, why aren't there left-wing shock jocks. Maybe because everyones a socialist and no one likes listening to a show where everyones in agreement
