first timer

Its my first reading festival this year I have been to other festivals but not Reading. So I was hoping some of you guys could answer some questions I have.

Is the silent disco over 18s? As me and my mates are 17 and we will be up for doing things after the music has finished? It does not say anywhere its just at lovebox festival you had to be 18 or over to access some of the arenas.

Also are they strict on the amount of alcohol taken into the festival? I presume not but would 1 or 2 crates of larger per person be fine?

Finally what is a good campsite for a first timer and what time will I need to get up to get a good pitch? I don't want to be anywhere to mad and would like some sleep but would like somewhere with something going on I dont mind if we have to walk to find this?

Cheers

Sam

Hi there.

1. Ive only been once (last year) and never went to the silent disco, but i highly doubt you need to be 18 :)

2. On the website it says something about only enough for personal consumption, but tbh, i walked in with 5 crates and they didnt say anything.

3. Im all about preaching Orange, verging onto Yellow, but make sure you camp as near to a fence as possible, for 2 reasons: 1. Less people pissing or attacking your tent as they walk past, 2. Can piss on the fence in the middle of the night :)

no age restrictions on silent disco. there's also other stuff going on this year when the bands have finished in the main arena.

no one will say anything about alcohol when you first go in, dont worry about that.

first time i'd suggest middle of green. thats where ive camped for the last 4 years and its perfect for what said you wanted. avoid yellow if its your first year, thats where everyone crams in - theres no space and its very lairy

have a good one!

if you've got an early entry wednesday pass, get there at like noon if you wanna get in early and get set up. it says 6pm but the last 3 years ive got there at 11am and always been in and set up by 2pm. if you're going thursday, it opens at 8am and i'd get there as early as you possibly can otherwise you're gonna end up far away from the arena in brown orange or even across the river is boring awful white campsite

I'm just going to second what paulomas said - don't camp in Yellow, its the most hectic campsite.

There isn't anything going on after the bands finish, just everybody getting wrecked in the campsite, so you might as well camp anywhere else (aside from White - the designated quiet camp over the river), although my personal recommendation is Green.

The silent disco was w*nk last year. I got so bored I accessed this forum on my phone to complain about how shit it was.

Best bet is to make your own entertainment - cd player, campfire, drinking games etc. If you get bored, go for a wander and have a chat with some strangers and join in their shenanigans for a while (as long as their shenanigans don't involve burning things or shouting "angry mob" - if it does, give them a slap and say "that's from Lithium"... Then run like hell.)

Officially? Source please.

Not that id probably go, just think surely FR have to put something on after the music finishes :(

Couldnt they make Brown the dedicated quiet campsite, then have some big club in White? Its miles away from any residential areas?

"Couldnt they make Brown the dedicated quiet campsite"

That's unlikely as White has stuff like the campervan field and myhabs which need direct vehicle access (which Brown doesn't have) it's also the quiet campsite because it's so far away from the action, if brown was made the "quiet" site I'd bet that there'd be loads of nonsense with people "messing up" the "boring people" in white......

But to go back to the point of this thread, there's more late night stuff than before as Reading - see last week's announcement :D
