The Tipi Tent

I'm not a big fan of the Tipi Tent. Last year I tried to see Peter Broderick and Blitzen Trapper and only managed a few short tantalizing glimpses of both. It's great of you're one of the lucky few down the front, but I ended up standing outside the tent like a real saddo, trying to hear as best I could. Wintersleep are headlining one night, and I just hope that they doube up and play another venue as The Low Anthem and others did last year. Anyone out there feel the same?

I pretty much gave up on this last year as it was difficult to get into and not that comfortable, but I understand the organisers have recognised some of the problems so hopefully there will be changes this year, as well as maybe some bands playing second sets elsewhere

Pretty much the first thing Sofia said after last year was they were going to look at the Tipi design. There's always been something wrong with that tent - before the redesign for last year you'd get bands drowned out by the noise from the bar.

I was talking to someone who stewards at EOTR every year, and he has heard that it's going to be much more accessible this year

Agree completely. I did see Charlie Parr in the Tipi last year but had to get in early and grab a spot. Tried and failed to see others like Blitzen Trapper : ( Glad to hear they are rethinking it this year.

I too really want to catch Wintersleep and must say I was a bit disappointed they are in the Tipi, guess I'll have to get in there well in advance - I think they should have been in the Big Top, they have that 'bigger' sound that needs a larger space imho.

Can't remember where this came from but I think the plan was to effectively double it - so it would be "V" shaped with full access both ways.

Hopefully the volume will be sorted too, EOTR has always been very good at listening in the past - I have faith.

I'm hoping Tipi and Local will both be shifted round - so the stages are almost back-to-back - that would massively reduce the sound spillage.

I think I read a while back that the Local was getting a bigger tent this year - a mini Big Top.

Could they expand the area this year so the two venues are further apart ? There is always masses of space left for camping
