Bought it 9am as on the Monday it came out

I'd resisted downloading so I was buzzing when I got it, don't remember being excited for an album in a loooong time

And f*cking hell it didn't disappoint

Absolutely fantastic!

Can't wait to see them at Leeds! :D

Can I ask how Arcade Fire have suddenly become everyone's favourite headliner after the world was up in arms when the Line up was announced. I can't really talk though, I too have joined the darkside, I'm glad my eyes have been opened, this is what festivals are good for, introducing you to something new, even if its not normally the headliner.

In all honesty, when the line up first came out I went 'F**k Arcade Fire I'm gonna watch Pendulum', because I'd listened to them more than I had Arcade Fire at the time. But as i started listening to them seriously instead of casually I realised that I cannot miss Arcade Fire. Even though all my mates want to watch Pendulum I'm determined to watch them on my f**king own. These lot are truly something special and definately missed.

BTW anyone watching Ash is a mug. That vocalist has the weakest voice in music :).

Still don't imagine the crowd will be that full for Arcade Fire, but still can't wait. Love the new album as I do the first two!

As for Ash I've never got the hype behind them....seen them atleast four times and thought they were dull each time. They have a couple of decent songs, but that's about it as far as I'm concerned.

Much better than Neon Bible and comparable to their debut. Still like the EP best. They will be doing the headlining circuit for many years to come. And lets be honest we needed someone to make the step up after KOL, Muse, The Killers and Green Day time after time after time.

KoL: 2009, 2007, 2005

Muse: 2006, 2002, 2000

Killers: 2008, 2005

Green Day: 2004, 2001, 1995

so as you can see all these bands have headlined reading & leeds once (the bold years). although they are touring constantly its not as if they are permanently stationed at r/l - they are doing other fests or stadium tours. apart from KoL and the Killers its been 4 years since Muse were at r/l and that will probably extend for another few years i suspect. with Green Day it has been 6, but they put themselves on the rumour mill for next year

so you know the bands that have been around longer are also keeping away from the festival for longer. hope that solves your problem ;)

Exactly its fine for bands to come back and play obviously each year festivals take in a new set of 'inductees' who never had the chance to see these sorts of bands when they played before. It's good for them to come back for these types of fans. A lot of festival goers will also only attend one festival.

It seems that bands come back quicker between high up slots to step up to a headline appearance and seem to be away for years before they do the same festival again. Yes the tend to do a british festival every year, but not many people do a load of festivals.

I just hope that every year they take heed of this fact and try to book something new and fresh as headliners go, as well as mixing in a few older type bands and those who have headlined before and are back after a said length of time.
