Does no one think Lol might do him in?

Btw - Anyone else get the Observer on Sunday? There was a free dvd with short films on it - including 'Where's the Money, Ronnie' by Meadows. Its a homage to Rashomon and gives 4 different perspectives on a robbery. Haven't seen it yet but I think Rashomon is massively overrated.

My OH watached episode 3 last night before episode 4 came on - i had to go and wash up during that scene. I couldnt watch it again.

Even though

Mick's attack on Lol was more physically violent it wasn't as disturbing as the attack on Trev to me, it was more inevitable.

well i enjoyed last night's episode although nothing really happened for the first half hour.

i thought it would be grim all the way through but it had a few funny bits. the scenes with woody and milky were good, they had some funny banter between them. and anything with shaun and smell together is funny, although i'm not sure if it's supposed to be.

i was happy with the ending, i really wanted lol to batter his head in and kill him. when combo was walking towards the house, i worked it out that he was going to take the blame. he still isn't the hero in the eyes of the group, which i didn't want, because they don't know what really happed. it was the perfect ending to the story for me.

i hope the next part of the trilogy goes ahead.

edit: when channel 4 announced there would be "scenes of sexual violence" i thought, f**k sake not again.. it wasn't as bad as i was expecting though. the scene with trev was much worse.

Yeah I liked the way they only gave Combo a partial redemption, a knight in shining armour just wouldn't have fitted. I'm pretty sure that there will be a new series in a few years time - what the hell will Smell look like by then?!

By the way I read on their facebook feed that they only finished the final episode last Monday, cutting it fine.

I think I found the scene with Lol harder to watch because it was pure vindictiveness on his part - nothing sexual about it, just total intent on violation - I though it was more graphic as well than last week's and remember wincing at one point :( Not that either scene was remotely pleasant to watch.

For a programme I can't say I really "enjoyed" watching, it's certainly left an impression!

Great series. Think it could have been a couple of episodes longer however.

Shane Meadows or the same person who runs his website at least, said on his twitter last night:

There are plans for This Is England '90 set around rave culture. Nothing confirmed yet though.

Last night was a bit of a hit and a miss for me, when it actually got going it was amazing but it took a while. Kinda worked out what was gonna happen with Lol and Combo (I looked at the TV Guide:P ) It said Combo does a truelly heroic thing so I knew what it'd be.

It was a great series as a whole but personally I enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd episodes the best, although it was grim at times there were some real comedy moments and I think that's what makes Meadows work so great.

Really hope they do make a series set in 1990, it would be great to see how the characters have developed and where they've went in there lives.
