I use my degree in many ways but working isn't one of them. It must be much of a letdown that you can only judge use trough employment. And the fact remains - as several other posters have pointed out - that you clearly know nothing about hiow opinion polls work. And given the things you cite as evidence, you clearly know nothing of the scientific method.

That seems like a fairly standard poll that gets within a couple of percent fairly accurate results. 1008 is actually a really good sample size.

Whats your problem with random? And what's your problem with telephone? In terms of keeping sample bias to a minimum, its about as good a method as you're going to get. Of course it could be improved but its not bad enough to make the results completely off like you're suggesting.

People like ICM and MORI employ well qualified statisticians and consult with academics to design their experiments and process their results - i.e. they know a f**kload more than you do. Their conclusions ain't perfect, but they're definitely better than you give them credit for.
