Cup pikey baiting

Anyone see the guys 'Pikey baiting' at the top of the hill at the main stage during Biffy? Had some empty beer cups on a string and pulling them away any time someone tried to pick them up. Drew quite a crowd, who were all cheering every time someone was caught out. It was definitely far more entertaining than Shitty Clyro.

PS In case any sad Biffy fans get annoyed at my last comment and start flaming me, may I stress that it is just my opinion, which does not make it a fact to anyone else but me.

Biffy @ Leeds for me were in my top 3 bands of the weekend! However that was an amazing idea! Wish i could have saw it cause its hilairous just watching people pick up cups anyhow but thats so funny lol.

But a kid who was standing with his parents by the floating speakers had 300 cups on the Saturday and loads of the carriers! His mum and dad were watching the bands and he was off collecting and his dad said he got 35 quid on the friday and he was on for 30+ on the saturday! Theres logic in it but only if you have nothing better to do...unlike most adults and people who are actually turning up for the bands and music!!!

A friend of mine started in the NME tent during band of horses and by blink he had 300, cashed them in and got a crate. Just picked them up as he was watching bands and once he had a decent pile people kept walking over to give them too him. So can't really complain!

I like the baiting story though, would have laughed if i saw that!!

My original post wasn't intended to have a bash at folk who collect cups, although I can see how the term 'cup pikey' could be taken badly. Although, saying that, I've seen some annoying ones who literaly hang around people who look like they've nearly finished their drinks, badgering them to get the cups. Also seen a couple of them looking in bins at T this year, just to get cups. It also wasn't intended to start a debate on any perceived rights or wrongs of cup collecting.

I'm just usually too interested in the music to worry about taking my cup back to a return point. Can't believe that someone got all their ticket money back last year, as the poster said though, they musn't have seen much of the festival.

Just thought it was funny watching them getting caught out with the bait, and wondered if any others on here had seen it.

best one i had was when i picked up a cup, some dude just chucked 10p into my cup :P gave it him back so he could do it to someone else. A security guard told me some dude made £123 quid in 40 mins collecting after the shows, sounds amazing if you ask me!!!

Haha - didn't see any of that ; but sounds like a laugh.

If the festival were serious about its green credentials though, it would do something like Latitude - use decent plastic cups and put a £2 deposit on a drink that you get back when you return your cup.
