how to stop the wristband from fraying?

i know everyone says 'burn it' but i haven't cut the long bit off, it's still exaclty how the woman originally put it on, and because i have skinny arms there's a good 5inches.

does everyone normally cut it off, or would i be fine just burning the edges of the whole thing?

i always cut them. the oldest wristband i'm still wearing is over 2 years old now and hasn't frayed much.

clear nail polish or hairspray on the end will stop it fraying.

keeping long is well better

now do you stop them bobbling though. mine are all starting to look crappy, except my glasto 09 which seems to be in perfect nick.

Use a diver's wrist bungee to keep the long bits out of the way

Put a lighter to the bit you'd cut, then just pull it apart

Does the same as cutting it only melts the ends together so they don't fray

I don't get it, why do people want to keep the wristbands on?

I don;t know how the other years Reading Bands were but if you cut the long bit off this years theres nothing to determine what festival it is from lol.

They seem pretty tacky anyway. I've still got mine on but wont have for long. The whole of the band is fraying along the edges all the way around and all the pink 'Weekend' lettering is fraying.
