bennyhana22
Returning to a previous suggestion and, let's be honest, a HUGE 'I hope so', the new record by Bright Eyes is absolutely fantastic. It was pretty good on first listen. On repeated listens it is stunning. I am now left with the horrible feeling that because I would like it so much and it would be so perfect, has that cursed the chances of a Bright Eyes Final Album swansong at EOTR? And, though I realise Conor played a couple of years ago with the Mystics, are Bright Eyes 'too big' for EOTR? And when I ask that I am in no way undermining the festival, merely asking the question. I guess that, albeit with one album Fleet Foxes could headline with their considerable mainstream profile, then the answer is no, Bright Eyes are not too big, so button it, Ben. I'll get me coat. Sorry - Ladder Song just playing from The People's Key. Is there a weak track on this record...? Ben
geofelgie
Unfortunately the tour dates announced (and holes therein) point to Bright Eyes playing Glasto, T and possibly Latitude.

beestung
Throwing Muses anyone? They're apparantly readying a new album for this year and I heard rumour that they may be touring over here late summer.... Also, I know it's been mentioned before, but I'd love it if PJ Harvey was announced as one of the other headliners. The new album is out tomorrow and, from what I've heard of it so far, it sounds pretty special. Finally, I wanna mention Mike Watt. The guy's a legend and he's got his new album (or "third opera" as he calls it) out soon (http://www.hootpage.com/hoot_hyphenated-man.html). Hoping for some UK dates - could maybe work at End of the Road?

Infinite Jest
They've just announced that Jeff Mangum is curating All Tomorrow's Parties in December, so I very much doubt we'll see him at EoTR
wackojackohighcliffe
might make buy a ticket to that - i'll await the next band announcement.
Sipperana
That sounds good - ATP has been on the must-do list for a while now, this might just be the necessary excuse to go for it. Bands so far... JEFF MANGUM (from Neutral Milk Hotel) SUPERCHUNK THE OLIVIA TREMOR CONTROL YOUNG MARBLE GIANTS THE MAGIC BAND THE RAINCOATS performing The Raincoats (debut LP) A HAWK AND A HACKSAW TINARIWEN THE APPLES IN STEREO It's an Elephant Six love-in :-D
Sipperana
Btw had to snigger that the mention of the Coral. Ok they're a decent live act (saw them at Glasto '03) but Elfy and bennyhana will remember the exodus from the Word tent at Latitude last year after they'd played Dreaming Of You and launched into one of their more recent Americana bandwagon-jumping numbers... Breathe Owl Breathe would be ideal. In fact, they should get BoB, Bill Callahan and Adrian Crowley together for a lugubrious sing-off :-D

Velvet Overground
On another note, how about The Cave Singers? Their latest album is probably my favourite of 2011 so far.

wackojackohighcliffe
was quite dissapointed with that bright eyes album. glad i stuck with the cd on it's own. seeing him in june but would be happy with him again at eotr (and it is possible, seen as i remember him saying they'd booked 220 shows this year (may have been 100 though ). Although far from as good a live band as The Hold Steady. Hoping the next one is Sufjan or Decemberists or the reformed Archers of Loaf. Or Les Savy Fav. Or My Morning Jacket. Or The National. Or Okkervil River. Or The Shins. Or Spoon. Or Menomena. Or Bon Iver (+DeYarmond Edison reunion set with Megafaun). Or Anais Mitchell doing Hadestown (with aforementioned Vernon + Low Anthem). RealEarthMother
So The National are playing in Edinburgh on 23 August. First UK date of 2011. Only a week or so in advance of EotR. Just saying.......
Tom75
The Felice Brothers Justin Townes Earle The Low Anthem Emmylou Harris would be pretty great too but she doesn't get over here that much. but any of the above would be absolutely fantastic Tom
Infinite Jest
Felice Bros played last year, and TLA played the last two years. OTOH, TLA said that EoTR is their favourite festival, and they have a new album out now. And FB seemed to enjoy playing last time. So...maybe?
