Took a train from Glasgow -> LHR because of the ash cloud, but made my LHR -> BCN connection with no worries really.

Last night in Barcelona was a quiet enough one - some late night tapas & beers and then a scout around our base for the week, finding all our essentials...store/pharmacy/casino/bar that sells cider.

32Deg morning - JOY

So - aside from there being a major balls up w/ the card bar system & generally bar people being super inexperienced at handling a bar section - leading to some super long waits even if you are right at the bar, the festival itself has been pretty amazing.

I have had such a superb time.

Highlights for me so far were The Walkmen, Jason Collett, Pulp & Battles.

Belle & Sebastian were a low point for me & also was not taken by James Blake in the huge setting of the Pitchfork stage. (I am going to see him soon at Oran Mor in Glasgow & expect it to be a much more joyful experience.)

Have also seen The National & Interpol both were decent.

And all the bands on at Poble Espanyol on Wednesday (Not really taken by any of them until Caribou, which was great & the crowd surrounding my group were all really into it which made it all the more enjoyable.

Leaving for the area late today - not too keen on seeing anything until later, so will probably catch the Champions League Final instead.

Then the mighty Mogwai. Mon the 'Gwai!

Yeah the bar situation was an absolute farce but made up for this by sneaking a healthy bottle of havana in for the remainder of the festival. Certainly the best layout for a festival site I have experienced and the line-up was outstanding. Highlights for me were Warpaint, Echo and the Bunnymen, Battles, Flaming Lips, Yuck, Black Angels, Explosions in the Sky.

What lovely memories this brought back as we slide into Autumn/Winter.

Great festival, great bands, great weather, great crowd, great city - what more could you want for.

Personal highlights were Flaming Lips, The National, Pulp, Grinderman, Mercury Rev, Sufjan Stevens (so lucky to get into the Auditori for these two), Phosphorescent and many more. The only disappointment for me was Animal Collective.

I have had a lovely Summer of many festivals and gigs with my daughter and sometimes my son - memories to keep me going over the Winter months and hopefully planning next years outings.
