The Nal
Single handedly invented porn music. If you like wah-wah try this great J J Cale track. Come to that if you like sensitive guitar try anything by JJ. Wow thats beautiful. Never really got into JJ. Any pointers where to start? Tonyo - whos in hell then? Jimi or Charles Pitts? Both? Edit - Didnt realise Charles Pitts died yesterday. A Stax man. Steve Cropper was on the Ronnie Wood show last week - dunno if anyones been watching but its excellent. Must re watch and see if Pitts in mentioned. Hell of a career! R.I.P. Edited May 2, 2012 by The Nal
The Nal
That's from his first album Naturally, which is an absolute gem... I've been playing it since it came out in '72. I had his next 2 Really & Okie, which are also great. He's a lovely guitarist, very laid back without being boring... unique Haven't heard much of his later stuff Cheers. Ill start from the earliest stuff so.

Chas
not quite as iconic as Shaft and Voodoo Chile though ... After seeing that mention of Voodoo Chile I just had to revisit Stevie Ray Vaughan's version.... First saw him at the Reading Festival and later on at the Hammersmith Palais & Odeon. Like Rory Gallagher, who I also tried to catch whenever I could, he never disappointed. Both sadly missed.

eFestivals
The Psychedelic Furs - they're playing small 'club' shows around the UK in July, the first tour I'm aware of them doing for well over a decade. I can't wait.
The Nal
any bass player worth listening to must have been influenced by Duck Dunn and if they weren't, they should have been Indeed Been digging The 13th Floor Elevators recently. Easter Everywhere. Cracking stuff.

The Nal
is that the one where she visits her daughter for the first time in years? It shows her with her daughter yeah. Graham Nash, Crosby, David Geffen are talking throughout it. Some great performance footage I hadn't seen before too.
The Nal
yea, I found the very early stuff very interesting I saw it (if it's the same one) a couple of years ago, and it was the first time I knew about her daughter. Yeah think thats the same one. Her earlier stuff, up to and including the Hissing of the Summer Lawns, is great. Im not into jazz in any big way so Hejira and later stuff is lost on me. Music made for musicians basically.
The Nal
Really enjoying PiLs new album. Have tickets for the Dublin show too. [media=] Also Bobby Womack has got the all clear from the Big C. Great news. And I'm happy for purely selfish reasons - I've tickets for him and Van the Man in August! grumpyhack
Some of my best and some of my worst concerts have been Van The Man. On form he's magnificent. Saw him one night play for four and a half hours at a club in Newport - reckoned to be one of his best ever gigs in one biography. Hope it's a good one for you.
