Some irish fella tipped me a horse for the grand national for helping him. I work at a motorway service station so I have got used to crazy people... But he seemed certain balabrigg (not sure on spelling) would win. Now I know nothing about betting or horses, I dont even know if the grand national is 1 race or even a series of races but I may put a fiver on this horse... Any horse enthusiasts know if its worth it? Ive never hears of the horse...

i've got state of play in the sweepstake at work. 25/1 at paddy power and i've actually heard of it. fairy happy compared to other years

ballabriggs is 14/1 at paddy power. that's the sort of prices i tend to go for. think i'm gonna give it a miss this year though. no point when you're at the football.

In our household sweepstake i picked Character Building just cos the jockey is wearing pink and purple lol! But then again when we've gone to the races at work i've always won something and i picked them due to nice colours/cute names!

5Live topic (obviously) today was the National and the cruelty to animals brigade were out in force with their vegan mates and ill-informed critics.

eeee lad.

But... bugger all that and those who picked up some bonce on saturday..take a look at this.

This was the 1st race on sat...watch the horse 2nd from the left.

Jockey Toole still in a coma. Horiffic.

Personally I dont think the national's that good in racing terms- too many runners, too many fallers, not top class - just seems to be a tradition , like the bookies christmas, everyone comes out and has a bet on the national, bookies will happily take them all day

40 runner field, only 19 finished>

Only one horse jumped Becher's second time round - it was a horse that had unseated his rider...
