Because he's not thinking with his addiction and only looking at the £200 part of it.

I agree there is a population issue with the world, but taking away someones fundamental right to have children is not really acceptable is it? You can't ask an addict what he would do for £200. at the point he is desperate he will say anything. Its like extracting a confession through torture. You're never sure whether that confession is true or just said to stop the pain.

I think its awful when babies are born with problem becauses the mother was an addict. But this a life changing proposition. If they overcome their addictions and want to settle down and have kids they wont be able to. Thats very unfair.

I think this will reduce crime and population etc.. so on that end, its a good thing.

But I think it's wrong to be offering people £200 while their judgement is clouded, its a massive decesion and should not be taken lightly. Many of these people my be stuck in a rut and may eventually turn their lifes around even to the extent of wanting a child.

Hardly seems worth £200 also

Isn't the precedure reversable though?

Can you be snipped twice? If so--I hope she comes brayin on my door!

Look... everybody has their price.. for anything..and anybody who says they dont are liars.

There are just too many iffs and buts to this scheme..and so overall I think it is wrong.

If that bloke pays his rent... I`ll eat some cake.

though you can take a moral highground on the matter, you are ignoring the fact there is a MASSIVE population crisis on our planet

we simply can not produce enough resources to feed everyone if the population continues to grow at this rate

so surely any way of keeping the population down is a good thing?

I'm 100% with you on the need to reduce the population (not that it'll ever happen, but that's another thing).

What I am against is sterilising a part of the population because - as worm correctly pointed out - they're poor.

We need to have a grown up debate on the population issues. We don't get to do that by allowing people to be killed off only on the basis that they're poor.

This is old news (a few months at least). The woman who started it pretty much stated that she couldn't give a shit about the addicts in question, just the hundreds of the thousands of children that are taken in to care in the US - I believe she'd adopted two crack babies. She kept giving the example of a addict in the city she was from who had had something like 18 children taken away from her.

If you think about it, £200 isn't alot for an addict as you read about them spending hundreds each week.

Personally, i'd never give up my right to having a child for any amount of money, but then again, i'm not addicted to drugs, and to create a human life is worth way more than £200/£2000/£20000/£200000000 measley pounds.
