Yeah, there's a difference between saying "I don't like" something and saying something "is shit". Saying it is shit implies no redeeming features, or that there is an absolute ton of stuff out there that is better.

I didn't really like The Lord of The Rings films but they're clearly not shit. Massively drawn out and repetitive yes, shit no.

Tbh, saying The Simpsons is shit comes across as you've never really watched it.
