Hmm sounds about right, still a bit sceptical on Foo's, I dont understand why the IOW organiser said they were all exclusives, but I guess that would get people to buy tickets.

I like the sound of Slam Dunk, might have to get tickets for that.

Wonder what happened to Van Halen then.

Apparently Rush might be doing a UK festival next year, any news on that?

Kiss also said they are headlining a UK festival next year?

Copping said he's confirmed 2 more bookings for Download, 1 sub-headliner and 1 2nd stage headliner, have you heard anything?

Any news on the Slipknot front, heard reports on them doing Sonisphere?

Thanks OKB

Van Halen read this http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=149592

KISS, I haven't heard anything but I haven't researched it either, The only 3 they could play is Hard Rock Calling, Soni or High Voltage tho IMO

The bookings AC has made, I doubt many have privvy to this, even tho he says he's booked 2 headliners and one sub and 1 second stage headliner, lets tell you this from AC's conversations, I'd say he's booked a hell of a lot more but thats what he's planning to ANNOUNCE, and he preferes to state this so that when they are announced people won;t go mad for me info becuase he's saying they aren't booked, he tends to give very little away in advance.

Id say the headliners he's booked are Foo's and Ozzy, and the third headliner will be SOAD, since the SOAD leak happened the other day first he ignored and poured cold water on the rumours then the next day he said he should have the third headliner 'booked' by next week, IMO they're booked already but he didn't plan to announce, but simnce its leaked he's working it out with SOAD management to see if they can announce. With IOW announcing Foos, and Ozzy getting named for many fests around the time, theres no point in holding back on the info, they may as well announce. Download has it weird cus unlike Reading and Leeds, a lot of the metal/rock fests in Europe announce early like Rock AM Ring, Hellfest etc, and people are willing to book up in advance due to very cheap prices and AC is coming to the thinking that they have to act earlier this year too, plus the VAT rise and the fact that Reading and Leeds are doing earlybirds in Dec, theres a lot of competition for peoples hard earned cash, plus obviously Soni is closer to Download this year, which has to be another factor.

Im unsure who could be the second stage headliner btw, it could be numerous acts who could intercahnge position on the line up, but I have a ever growing list of acts I expect to play the festival, check the download forum for that, for the confirmed Sub I think he may announce I think its gunna be the Scorpions, as Hellfest has announced them subbing Ozzy the week after Download.

On Slipknot, much of next year will be Stone Sour touring again, they've already confirmed they'll be back in the UK next year. expect them at Sonisphere, and while they're here they may play TITP/Oxegen as well as they're the same weekend, but the organisers have already confirmed Corey will be back at the festival in 2011, and he has said he'll be returning to the UK with Stone Sour. Another act I expect at Sonisphere is All Time Low, Id say they'r a dead cert, although dunno how many people care about that!

Right lets look at this logically.

Maiden are playing arena dates.

Maiden fans will go to these arena dates.

Maiden fans are generally getting on now and will prefer their own shows over having to watch a day at a festival.

Reading has around 20,00 day tickets to sell which are based primarily on the headliner, why would a maiden fan pay more to see a festival lineup that most of it wont interest them.

Reading always books exclusives of some sort.

Maiden headlined Sonisphere last year, reading wont want to look like they are second to Sonisphere.

Maiden are renouned for playing new stuff and dont do festival 'greatest hits' sets.

Lets face it the odds are stacked highly against it.

If I created a new username came on here and told you I was the editor of a magazine and these are the headliners you'd tell me I was lying. However cause someone says they know them? I know Kasabian and Radio DJs, most people in the industry dont have a f**king clue.

See, this is the precise reason why I dislike this thread. I appreciate the fact that people wish to create wishlists and rumours, but I can't tolerate it if they come here and announce it as facts when - in truth, nobody actually knows. What baffles me is the idiocy of some people when they place their entire faith in the words of wisdom of somebody who cannot and will not provide any basis of proof to his assertions.

This thread is nothing more than a speculation thread. That's why I feel sorry for Gazza when I see him being roped into something so transparent and baseless.

The key to making predictions is who's playing what festivals when, European festivals around the same time always seem to get announced before UK ones. So you get a good idea, plus obviously you take into fact who's played what festival last year or last time they were around and what festivals they would fit in with. Thats just coming from using this site for many years.

On OKB you seem to really want to put faith in this guy, from my standpoint Im not saying he could be right or wrong, but seems to me, he's just doing what im doing which is guesswork, but trying to say that he has contacts, theres everychance he could have a contact, but he's mentioning so many different fests and acts, Ive never seen someone know so much so early this time before, if his friend is in the press there is ABSOLUTELY no way whatsoever that they will know for sure the top billing at Reading and Leeds etc already and especially wouldn't be leaked to acts lower on the bill, the organisers just wouldn't be releasing this information, my cousin is a journalist and has been for a long time, Reading and Leeds woyuldn't be releasing this information to the press a near 6 months before launch date, thats why im calling bullshit. As regards to you saying efests didn't know whatever in the past, efestivals hears lots of things, they just don't always put it up, and other fests get ignored due to the fact that Glasto has and always will be the focus of this website, so more time and effort goes into that line up predictions, Scotty does a lot of stuff on here along with Neil and at times they just aren't on, V has no predictions whatsoever, along as the website says its just a rumour, who knows if it will happen, but they are very rarely put up for V at all.

The other year I said Muse were playing V festival but Neil wouldn't have it, and then they got announced months later, Id actually heard it on Kerrang, Stewart Cable when he was alive and worked for them had said it and said that Stereophonics were playing too. Every year this festival could be FULL of educated guesses on rumours pages but it seems they never are. The main reason it seems it that people can't take the fact its just a rumour and they think its a definate and then thats a headache this website just doesn't need. But as I say things get overlooked because for days at a ime these boards aren't watched, SOAD rumour for Download broke a whole 2 days ago, and the Blink dates broke last week but they haven't gone up as a rumour either. And its easy for littler things to go missed and pass people by. Thats why threads like this thrive on the forums, festival speculation is the best time of the year, cus you're always hoping for an amazing line up.

So we need thread like this, I just don't know why people have to come on and say I know all, its the end of rumours, cus thats the fun bit, talking about the rumours, the what ifs, this thread started as if shut up all of you I know everything and thats the end of it all, but thats exactkly the opposite of what these boards is about, plus being here from the beggining i've seen these threads a million times, and about 2% of the time they're right.

Anyway, lets keep guessng eh! I really don't think anyone knows the Reading headliners yet

That just proves he's doing exactly what we're all doing and making educated guesses. Someone on here will get it right but not 9 months before the festival. The general rule is by January one of two bands are nailed on and the final band is usually a guess up until its announced because they're usually UK or European exclusives such as I think Green Day might do this year. Picking up 1m for 2 days work in the middle of a year off isnt bad is it.
