rabid
I'm sure I said this last year, but I'm always a bit surprised about this…..I manage a public building and we mark the 'Two minutes silence' every year. Having just arranged it again this morning I find it quite astonishing that people who are proudly wearing their poppies give me grief, become overtly disrespectful, moan, tut, even become abusive when 'Big Ben' bongs at 11.00 etc. What is that all about ? Ed209
just posted on this protest in the tuition fees protest thread. This is what I just witnessed in south kensington. This goes a little bit beyond people sending emails or going on facebook during the 2 minute silence http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/8126357/Muslims-clash-with-police-after-burning-poppy-in-anti-Armistice-Day-protest.html Edited November 12, 2010 by Ed209

gratedenini
I stood with Baby Hendrix and observed the TWO MINUTE SILENCE...he was very good , although I`m sure the eggcup full of raisins I gave him assisted somwhat. I looked out of my front room window as the rain lashed down and the wind blew... I had a tear in me eye thinking of me Dad on that boat.... and all the millions that have died in such awful circumstances.... but as I stood there holding his hand, I looked down at him chowin on his raisins and a feeling of something came over me, I dunno what... but I feel he (and millions and millions of others) wouldn`t be standing there now if it wasn`t for the actions of others. den ...and I got down on my knees..and I said PRAISE THE LORD! (no i didnt actually, before you start) Edited November 11, 2010 by gratedenini

ampersand
I know a German girl and she said the trains run better over here, I had to ask her to say it again as I thought I mis-herd due to her accent.
the_hedge
Probably wouldn't have so much trouble in the middle east either
sifi
The Middle East would be the least of our worries if Hitlers Nazi Party had won and ruled the UK

jump
What was that movie that had an alternative time line where the Nazi's had won and it was present day? *edit* Never mind found it, Fatherland can't remember if it was any good though. Cardboard Box City
from my experience, the trains in berlin were perfect. always on time, much nicer stations and trains. we're shit here!
sifi
That thing about trains running on time was originally coined by Il Duce, I thought?
jump
Based on a book. It's a fairly decent enough read. I quite like some of Robert Harris' books. The Cicero ones are decent enough. SS GB by Len Deighton I think was on similar lines.

Ed209
My mate is writing a film script at the moment about someone travelling back in time and killing Hitler when he was a baby, and the subsequent changes to humanity that came about. The title was definitely the best thing about it Back to the Fuhrer To be honest I think the film title came first and then he decided to write a film based on that. ampersand
I find the trains here to be quite nice, but I think it depends which service you're using.
