eFestivals
That thing about trains running on time was originally coined by Il Duce, I thought? I'm not sure if it coined by him or for him - but it's defo related to him & Italy, and not Hitler or Germany.
sifi
The title was definitely the best thing about it Back to the Fura To be honest I think the film title came first and then he decided to write a film based on that.

llcoolphil
Those self scan checkouts in Tesco make a right racket if you're the only person in the store not observing two minutes silence.
funkymp
Bit off topic, anyone seen this facebook group in relation to the muslims burning poppies? http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lets-show-these-poppy-burning-b*stards-how-many-people-want-them-deported/107254562676705?v=wall This country some times The amount of racism is absolutely shocking and peoples general historical knowledge is laughable. Purple Monkey
2 minutes in an entire year to simply be still and shut the f**k up, and yet somehow there are people who find it an impossible task.

eFestivals
Tell me about it, so many disrespectful people in work not shutting the f**k up. The line given by poppy sellers is that they fought for us so that we can be free. I guess they think that the freedom they fought for doesn't apply to their own doings. the_hedge
Those with St Vitus dance or Tourette's? There are some people who choose to remember in their own way too rather than join in what is becoming something of a media carnival parody of what it should be about
worm
I don't really give a f**k. Whether I bought a poppy and/or observed the silence wouldn't change this fact. Ergo, why force me to do either? It's not fascism, it's the pressure of having a highly traditional society. Ed209
I was thinking this earlier; we only started doing the nov 11th silence at school when I was in 6th form (although it was school-wide), so about 1999-2000. Was it done before then? I believe the silence on Sunday is meant to be nationwide - of course everyone is supposed to attend church and then visit the local cenotaph! llcoolphil
Yoiu don't particualry have to agree with it but if you can't stay quiet for 2 minutes once a year (tourettes aside) it's a poor show in my opinion. I bet you looked cool though beeping away with your shopping whilst everyone else showed some level of respect.

dakyras
If you were all concerned about being respectful, you'd go up to a war veteran and show your respect, instead of making some vain display of 'LOOK AT ME I'M BEING RESPECTFUL WITH EVERYONE ELSE'. RABun
I did observe the 2 minutes silence, however i was in a Injury Free Environment course, so it was unavoidable really. Having earlier that day listened to a speech given by the daughter of someone that was killed on a british construction site and then a video interview of the wife of another one killed. I decided to spend the time thinking about the families of those who choose to make the armed forces their career. Its always harder on the family. Sitting at home not knowing how their son/daughter/husband/wife etc is doing. Wondering on a daily basis if they will come home alive and in one piece. The families do not choose to go to war, so i chose to keep them in my thoughts. I want to know if everyone who complains about people not observing the 2 minutes silence, or not wearing poppy's really know what they are commemorating or whether they even spend that time thinking about those men and women? By making a huge deal out of it we lose sight of what it is about As the great Alan Bennett wrote "its not lest we forget, its lest we remember"
