As it goes, I think Pulp, and the promoters have misjudged this reunion a bit. I'd be really interested to see ticket sales for the gig that's been announced for next year. I'm willing to bet that the music industry have over-estimated their appeal while still intoxicated by all the pound notes they got from Blur.

While festival crowds will be fairly happy with them on the bill, there's not enough people who are going to shell out to see them on their own. I suspect this is going to come back and bite the band, and the associated companies, on the arse.

Ampersand, get this into your thick skull, if the Eavises had the same narrow minded way of viewing the world of music as you, we'd have had Crazy Frog headlining a few years ago.

Common People and Disco 2000 and to a lesser extent, Do You Remember the First Time will be the only 'massive sing-alongs'.

Remember there are a lot of Glastonbury goers who were too young to be properly aware of the whole Britpop movement at the time, spare Blue and Oasis' biggest moments.

The problem with Pulp is they didn't even go out on a high - they just withered into nothingness for a few years before calling it quits. I went to Leeds Festival this year and people were questioning Blink's credentials to headline, but unlike Pulp, they split up when they were at their absolute biggest. Why should a reformation naturally meant they pick up at their peak?

If they're even still together by late 2012 then they'll be of the same stature of 2001/2. That is why I don't want to see them headline over somebody like Prince.

How many bands do actually go out on a high? That's the reason they "go out"! If you think comparing Skunk Anansie, a band whose headlining appearance has been largely forgotten about (and for good reason) to a band that headlined twice and are considered to be one of Glasto's greatest of all time (so much so that the 95 set was broadcast only the other week), you're an even bigger idiot than I first thought.

Of course everyone knows the biggest Britpop band were Blue anyway..,

Didn't Blur basically fade away to though? I am not really sure I was just starting secondary school at the time and not into music but I am sure that they basically faded before quiting after Coxon quit?

I don't think anyone is saying Eavis please place Pulp above all else, but at the same time they could and should fil headline slot unless they really do have the biggest in the world lined up for all 3 slots.
