dunno - I've never eaten there (seriously), and want to slap them for having that

I think they took the words from a review that someone once wrote, it might have been scottie. It is a genuine quote from an efests review (I checked once).

TBH I'm struggling to see what real use this feature would be.

it'll help people find the decent food stalls at festivals, rather than having to work off a try-it-and-see method.

It's of course only as good as the input that people put back into it - if no one bothers to rate or comment on a food trader, then it becomes nothing more than a list of traders.

And of course, you don't have to take any interest in it yourself, it's not obligatory. But some will, I'm sure.

It's The Furnace - I wrote the review, and I stick by it - it still serves some of the best food on the festival circuit. I was a bit surprised to see it over the stall one year though! And have tried not to write things like that since - lesson learnt I think.

Do they operate across a range of festivals as I'm getting fairly serious in tracking down vegetarian cuisine?

I suppose you could say that your feature's already generating results Neil. ;)

And this'll help you track it down.

If you don't know which stalls are going to be there - and even the omniscient efestivals doesn't know that - then you can't really make an informed choice about which to go and check out. Unless of course you check it out on your phone when you're there.

... or if you check them and note which are the good ones, you know which stalls are the good ones to buy from and if you see that stall you're sorted.

That doesn't really work in the real world though does it? Going through all the vendors listed and memorising the good ones on the off chance that they'll be at the same festival as you.

it works for me. I remember which are the good and which are worth avoiding.

What might be useful is being able to search for stalls by the festivals they have been at since there's a fair chance they'll be there again if they're any good. Then you could have a look before you go and pick out ones to try if they are there again. It should be pretty easy to collect this info when people leave their comments and ratings.

Are you able to suggest a surefire way of getting this info in an accurate way?

Come on Neil, in this day and age we should have a full list of what stalls are at what festivals, full menu and prices and an app that allows us to get the GPS co-ordinates of where it's located at each festival.. with a pre-order facility for when the queues are big :P

The only way I can think this might work is if there is a list of where the stall has recently been spotted at, and / or the stall holders themselves can be encouraged to update the information themselves. Although clearly that has it's own pitfalls.

I don't see why you'd need to - most people have net enabled phones - you're at a festival with a bunch of caterers - you have a couple in front of you you're thinking of trying - you log on find them see the rating and the comments (I think that bit's important) and make your decision and enjoy some lush food. There aren't actually all that many caterers on the circuit. I think this year at the dozen festivals I went to there was only two I saw that I hadn't seen at a festival before - they had been at festivals before - but not ones I'd been to.

I check my phone maybe once a day, and don't carry it around with me at festivals. It's the escapism that festivals which appeals.

However, there's no reason why I wouldn't check out things back at camp before going out with a view to stopping at a specific location in mind.
