i dont see how bringing in my sex life has anything to do with this. also if you go back to that thread youll see i did actually like him, dont regret it, but got freaked out when he told me he loved me! this is one incident, doesnt mean that i sleep around (which i don't), which is what you were implying.

I like to think that in 2010 we can define poverty in a more progressive way than simply applying it to traditionally defined basic needs. Id say that having the opportunity to socialise with friends over a few drinks and having the opportunity to partake in wider cultural events (such as the theatre and cinema but also gigs and festivals) are pretty standard basic needs. We're not a third world country and shouldn't define what are needs as if we were

Surely one of the first things to go when purse strings get tight are socialising, cinema and gigs, etc. I can't agree these are basic needs! There are plenty of ways to socialise without needing to spend money. Basic needs for us are paying the rent, buying food and paying utility bills (and even two of those - broadband and home phone- I'd consider a luxury). I don't think my quality of life would be affected by having to give up/cut back on any of the things you've mentioned.

If you're happy with what is effectively an existence rather than a life (shelter, food and warmth you suggest above)and your quality of life isn't affected by an inability to play a full role in all aspects of society, that is a beautifully simple life you have there

warning

There are some calls for direct action on the 20th of november during or after a stop the war march. They are tying this in with the student protests.

Who ever is calling for this has no profile on the activist comunity. No one seems to know who this is.

Avoid like the plague if you recieve this invite and spread the word to avoid if you see it anywhere.

After scumoween and the storming of millbank, the rules have changed again.

I happened to catch Sky news last night in Ikea.

They were showing the footage of the guy the police have arrested in the fire extinguisher from roof incident.

I have to say i feel a bit sorry for him, he's done something stupid and thoughtless but he probably wasnt really thinking straight and caught up in the momentum of the day. Not saying he shouldn't face consequences but he could be done for attempted murder for it. I bet he's terrified.
