But now i have guys who are interested in me, who i'm not interested in, but i'm such a nice girl i don't want to be blunt, so i keep fobbing them off with various excuses - meanwhile i'm finding more and more good/nice stuff out bout the one guy i do like but still not getting past the friendly point in conversations.

Why do i flirt with guys i don't like that much but get all tongue-tied and shy around the one guy i do like? Just wish i could take the plunge ask him out.

I'll say the same thing I tell Wimbledon and just get over it. Chances are you're seeing him as perfect so you start withdrawing to prevent yourself from blowing it when he's probably as flawed as the guys you flirt with that you don't like but you won't know either way till you take the plunge.

Not directed at Amy but why do people have so much trouble asking others out? You've got facebook, texts, emails (all of which I avoid when asking a girl out) so it avoids doing it face to face which is the hardest part.

It's really not (although it may be my mentality of being too impatient to play games and can get over rejection somewhat easily) once you've decide to do it then it's easy it's the being unsure part which starts the loop "can I can't I", "what will they say" bal, blah that deflates people confidence.

yeah but that's something that will always kick in for someone like me. i'm not gonna ask a girl out with the click of a finger after just seeing them. so then the doubt does creep in.

anyway, i think plentyoffish seems a good route for me. after kats success story anyway.

However it's easier said and done when i only tend to see him face to face when he's working (and i'm usually walking the dog) so our conversations don't last that long, and he's a bit of a technophobe - occassionally i'll get really nice long texts or facebook messages but then he won't reply for ages (and i mean weeks here) if at all (by his own admission he's useless at replying back and never checks fb etc). So whenever i talk to him it seems rather brief and only gets to a certain point, and i want to feel like i'm barking up the right tree before i ask him for drinks and don't want to lose him as a friend.

I'll only talk from my experience as it's hard to know what's going on with you two but if I talk to a girl and it's very short and polite it's probably because we aren't clicking and have nothing in common or I'm not interested and I've messaged girls I'm not interested before. Like I said that's me and don't know about you two, best to invite him to mutual thing which is just you & him but I wouldn't worry too much about losing him as a friend if you only ever see him at work, might be the only way to move things forward on either level.

Also I'd edit loose to lose before Wimbledon get's stroppy about it.
