Just look for signs about what she wants/treats you but at the end of the day if you want to go out with her and not just be friends then you will have to woo her and not know how it will play out.

It played out fine. :)

Edit: that might be the first time I've posted something positive in this thread!

Pretty sure I'm on the verge of fucking everything up here.

Been seeing this girl from work, and everything started great, we started off exchanging texts regularly, went out to the cinema once, then last weekend I spent two (albeit drunken) nights in a row round hers. Good times, everything seemed groovy... But since then the texting hasn't as regular, for example I had an interview for a new job yesterday, she knew about it, didn't text me to ask how it went. She has also cancelled our date Friday because she forgot she was seeing her mum that night (apparently), and has been vague about rearranging it.

Now, the trouble is, I may have come on a bit strong, these things don't happen to me very often, and I may have gotten a bit over-zealous with the texting and trying to organise something. Basically, I really like this girl, and my attempts to get closer to her seem to be pushing her away. She got out of a two and a half year relationship about 2 months ago, I've been single for longer than that with the odd blip here and there.

Sorry if that's a bit disjointed wrote it in a few goes, but any sort of advice on the best approach would be great... I'm too close to this thing!

This is disappointing since you finally started posting postive shit in here :P

At this point what I would do is to give her a bit of space but not enough to make her think you've lost intrest in her so say are you happy to swap the date to another night and let her decide when. I will warn you now if she just came out of a long term relationship she may just be looking for a bit of fun/take it slow and nothing more tho.

deff this. And also bear in mind that she might be distracted for something not related to you, that she might not be ready to discuss. So try to remain approachable and concerned without being too pushy. Resist the urge to ask what's wrong, unless she hints that something is, or you feel she seems to want your involvement, or to discuss it, because if she is feeling a bit worried that things are moving too fast, it'll just feel like pressure rather than concern.

Thanks Katster. Hope you are enjoying your time over in Ireland.

We had a fantastic time. We both loved Galway the most and apart from a few "issues" with my control freak mother, we loved it. Looking forward to a holiday of our own now, which will have to be a cheap one for this year - camping in Cornwall most probably. How was your trip to Ireland??

Where else did you go Kat?

Pretty much everywhere in that area ;) we stayed in a small town called Gurteeny which is near a slightly larger town called Portumna. We went go-karting, visited Birr castle and gardens, the workhouse in Portumna, saw the Birren, went fishing on the Shannon and kayaking on loch derg. Quite a lot for only a week! Definitely a place I would like to return to for more exploring.

It was great thanks. Loved every minute of it. It'll probably be a while now before I return there, so relished every moment. It was really nice to take my girlfriend there and show her where my folks come from. That was important to me. Glad to hear you had a great time on your holiday too. Camping in Cornwell sounds like it'll be a nice break, especially if you get weather like we are getting now.

went on a date with a girl from POF the other day, she ended up not looking like her photos <_<

she happened to be an opera singer, so I got her to sing me the cornetto song after pulling her up on using misleading photos :D

Nice touch :)

Haha, was she any good at the song?

she was shockingly good! I told her she'll find someone that will make her happy, but she should be more honest on her profile (she pretended we had loads in common) or she's just wasting her time

The last four girls I've been with have all turned out to have boyfriends/fiancés, this is why I stick to online dating!

Met a great girl from POF recently who I really like, but she's moving to Australia for a year in 6 weeks, so it will be a short affair, I'm enjoying the moments all the same :)

I hate to once again contribute negativity, but if one more girl tells me they want to just be friends, I swear I'm going to snap.

How in the fuck do I avoid this shit?!, Because every fucking time I make any effort to get to know a girl romantically, I get this.

I have enough friends, too many, I don't need more. Why do I only seem to put out a friend vibe?! How do I stop this?!

Well, if she keeps flinging herself off tall structures, I'm not sure I fancy their chances ;)

congrats you two! Frosty and I celebrated 5 years of not throttling each other in August (and 2 years hitched in July!). Efests has a lot of answer for...

After nearly a decade of being single (divorced then widowed) I have decided that it is time to start looking at the opposite sex again. Seeing as I haven't "dated" since the 1980s this feels like quite a daunting task. God knows how I intend to get this scheme off the ground, but I guess that the decision is the 1st step.
