'able to' as in you hope the military allow her? Can't imagine she'd have accepted a conditional release that forbade it

Quite, she would not accept a conditional release, but they might attempt to block any attempts by her in the future.

I've been a pretty avid supporter of 'The Burma Campaign' for a long time and her release this morning is hopefully the first step in democracy for the people of Burma. The cynical part of me can't help me wonder how long this will last for. Perhaps the Junta have finally realised that the longer they keep her detained, the more powerful they make her

For now, i'm extremely happy - I just hope my bubble isn't burst!

It's a tricky one to try and work out isn't it. I can't understand why they would release her if they had those kind of plans but I cant see a great appetite amongst the junta to embrace democracy either. And I cant understand why they would want to start a whole new ground up populist movement towards it if they weren't moving towards democracy. There are things afoot we dont know yet know!
