blackg1000
yuck. i REALLY don't want kasabian to headline. rockness has always been different to T, by not following the current trends with acts and having more eclectic acts headlining like flaming lips and super furry animals. they've always managed to get the best dance acts around and the type of acts playing have set the tone for the whole festival. jim has always made a point of saying that rockness is not like T, so if kasabian headline, f**k knows what he's thinking.. we don't need two T in the park's in scotland, it was great when rockness came along to have another big festival in scotland as an alternative to T. if it turns into a mini T next year with shite bands and a crowd full of arseholes, it might have to be my last year. i love rockness and don't want to see it going to shit Edited November 20, 2010 by blackg1000
rexclark
The point is how many times have Kasabian played TITP since they've been about? It's a lazy booking. Might as well just add Snow Patrol in there as well.
rachbon
You know I kind of understand your point but do you honestly think that getting Kasabian is going to turn Rockness into a 'mini T'. It's a bit ridiculous if you think about it. It's one band. There's a dozen reasons why that 'crowd' go to T in the park and none of those are ticked by Rockness to be honest. Rockness has had it's fair share of bands that have covered both festivals such as The Prodigy, Biffy, Razorlight, etc and none of these have drawn the wrong crowd. I'm basically trying to say that you shouldn't tar everyone who listens to and enjoys seeing Kasabian with the same brush. Myself and my mates have been to Rockness since it started and I haven't been to T since 2008 because of the problems it has and that was after 12 years of going. I certainly wouldn't mind Kasabian at Rockness but I don't think a bunch of halfwit T regulars are going to traipse the length of Scotland to see one band. Iain333
A lot of the time I'm not bothered who headlines, usually when I don't lie someone on the main stage there is someone I'm desperate to see in the Clash. But I'm more worried about what crowd it will bring. Maybe some will see it as a cheaper option to T? I know this has been said a lot but what a crap booking by Rock Ness standards. Nothing original about it at all. Obviously this is only one band, and I'm sure this will become irrellevant come the rest of the annuncements. Paul ™
I think some of the criticism is being a bit harsh IMO. Although the headliners might not be to everyones taste (and if the rumours are correct, they ain't mine) but Rockness tends to have a great undercard and am confident Jim and his team will pull out all the stops to ensure they please pretty much all the punters going. I reckon their will be a strong line up overall, and will hold off judging it till its pretty much fully announced.

Aberdeen83
I heard this too. Also Underworld has been mentioned so fingers crossed!
Elbear
Im hoping it isn't Underworld, as I just don't think their big enough to headline. The Chemical Brothers seem quite likely, maybe even Faithless. Hopefully there is an announcement tomorrow after the early birds are taken off sale with a decent group of acts. Kowalski
I think Primal Scream can be ruled out if Kasabian are headlining. Can't see them both headlining Rockness.

rexclark
yeah if you're going to take one of the similar bands, better to take the good one.
rory_oh
Not sure how I feel about the Kasabian thing. There a band I havent seen yet but would quite like to see... BUT not at rockness :/ I know they wont be, but if they were SUB headlining I would be happy. The acts at the top of the lineup determine the whole 'feel' of the lineup. All that said though, Jim and the team haven't let us down yet and there's still no one announced!!! I dont think we should rule out daft punk yet... daft punk are 100% staging a comeback in the next year as they are on the cover of mixmag this month and theres been plenty of chat to support it. Any rumours of a daft punk comeback will be shut down to keep it the big surprise there promoters want it to be!

Paul ™
Interesting interview with the IOW organiser How long have you had the headliners booked for? Probably for about a month, earlier than usual, with the Foo's and Kings Of Leon we've got an exclusive festival appearance from each of them, they're also doing their own shows, and not doing any other English festivals, they might do a Scottish or Irish festival, and Kasabian is an exclusive UK appearance, because they'll probably do some dates of their own later in the year, but they wanted to do something to launch the campaign. Alpha Kenny 1
So basically no one has any idea of who might play. They just keep us guessing.
Paul ™
Still possible Kasabian might play, it wouldn't be the 1st time an Exclusive wasn't actually that
rexclark
I think perhaps Pulp came into the picture a bit late to be considered for headliners. I could be wrong though, I don't know how long the wheels have been in motion on that one. It would be pretty amazing if they did play though.
