So to some extent I agree, and as you said, they are surrounded by groups that want to destroy them. It's worth emphasising that Hamas ARE a terrorist organisation, whose stated goal is "to destroy Israel". Add in national service, media indoctrination, everyone at least indirectly knowing someone who's been harmed, and a government preying on these fears, and it's understandable.
I would say, that if after the events of the last 18 months, the same parties get voted in again at the next election, I'll have less sympathy (not none), as the atrocities have also been published in enough places that people should be aware. I just think that even in a democracy, it's important to separate the government and the people.
you get what you vote for...and where are the public concerns for the Palestinians?
BUT. Their reality is very much different to mine, very easy of me to judge, they are surrounded by countries and groups that want to destroy them, I have been to Israel and do have some sympathy, and maybe they don't know everything is going on in Gaza...
or maybe they do and they don't care.
Same as maybe many Palestinians don't care or even celebrate when a bunch of Israelis get killed like they did on Oct 7th. It is quite something the dehumanising affect war and conflict can have...(see WW2)
i dkdnt mean to put them that way round!!!!!
wunderhorse headling r1, good neighbours underneath.
