boston2505
Anybody reckon theres a chance of kyuss playing. Reunited without homme under the name Kyuss Lives and planned a european tour, even without Josh it would still be pretty awesome. Thoughts? jump
Too big for FR stage (before anyone starts yes the crowd wouldn't know who they are) slim chance of them playing low main or mid NME though.
Dave The Hedgehog
Well, weigh it up. Would you rather have Kyuss in a graveyard timeslot in a tent where only a few people will turn up or at the end of the day in the Festival Republic stage when MCR are playing where it'll be packed? Joe-
It'd be packed for MCR?

Vieuphoria
I think FR stage too. If not mid/low main. Would be a good booking but wouldn't get at huge crowd.
Dave The Hedgehog
To be fair, last year I saw 3 of the best bands at the festival on the FR stage - The Black Angels, Caribou and Warpaint. Kyuss would fit nicely on that stage regardless of budget.
mattl
But is it really Kyuss without Homme?

Vieuphoria
I don't think it matters that Homme isn't there.
rivalschools.price
a few points - kyuss just announced an acadamy size tour so quite big draw still - 2nd londonforum date added as first one sold out straight away - queens of the stone age are obviously a bigger band now but their popularity with reading fans shows that there is a place for this type of music at the festival. - no homme,no problem.homme is the big star now but when kyuss were at their peak, garcia, bjork and oliveri were equal members of the band.bruno fevery is an ample replacement. - not sure where they would play though.low on main stage would be a waste, big enough to headline lock up but wrong style of music, much too big for FR stage.3rd/4th from top of NME stage???? Dave The Hedgehog
f**k man how were they, I'm a big Black Angels and Caribou fan especially. Gutted I missed them
rivalschools.price
f**k man how were they, I'm a big Black Angels and Caribou fan especially. Gutted I missed them In terms of Kyuss I saw this on the Download forum, I could see them there to be honest but I would love to have them at Reading. Regardless of Homme's involvement they would be a fairly big pull, I remember people going to see Eagles of Death Metal a couple years ago for the simple fact Josh was in some sort involved. Not to mention they were a huge cult band in the States, but I can't really see them on the main tbh
rivalschools.price
The Black Angels were the best band at the festival, and they're also probably the best newish band on the planet at the minute. It was some of the best Psychedelic Drone/Noise Rock I've heard in a long time - an American Spacemen 3. Caribou were... astonishing. The lighting made everything but the musicianship on display as well as sound they created was phenomenal. Going back to what rivalschools.price said - Kyuss wouldn't be put 3rd or 4th from the top in the NME tent. They just wouldn't. It's not a logical place to put them, and they wouldn't headline either. They're playing mid-size venues at best (Rock City and Wulfrun Hall being two I've been to loads of times) - not huge theatres. A thousand and a bit max. Shove them on as headliners in the Festival Republic band like they did with Ash last year.
Dave The Hedgehog
black angels themselves were pretty good but there were so few people there it had no atmos.
rivalschools.price
At Leeds there were these two guys goading the security guards next to me. There was this black security guard (careful, Hedgehog) being backed up an older white guy with a moustache. The black guy clearly had no experience of dealing with crowds before and these two guys in the crowd were banging away at the barrier when they played 'Young Men Dead' - so he went up to them and told them to stop banging the barrier. These two guys started stroking his face and blowing kisses at him, and the white security guard with the moustache (who looked like some ex-military dude) started threatening them. Everybody in the front row was pissing themselves. Then at the end of the set, The Black Angels thanked everybody for coming and everything and said, "especially you two dudes at the front!" - black security guard looked crestfallen. I didn't see how many people were in the tent with us - but that's not the point. The point is, everybody there enjoyed themselves and saw a great f**king band. Leyser
To be honest it is looking like Homme will only be at Reading if he is to do a special show with Kyuss which would be UNBELIEVABLE. Hey it's a possibility, Homme is a big fan of the festival and he won't be coming with TCV and probably not QOTSA seeing as they were there last year (but who knows). No One Knows
