Jessie J

I think she's hugely talented and I can't compare her to Ellie Goulding or Keisha as these are the polarised views of old bell ends in my opinion.

She has a wonderful voice, she's edgy, got it all going on. It's my plan to see her but my plans don't always come to fruition; depends on the night before

Don't miss Jessie, in the wild world of talent that is Somerset in late June, Jessie is my one and only must see. :)

Don't know if I'd go as far as Bamber but if you do some digging on YouTube its obvious she has a great voice and has talent.Wrote for other people before she struck big and seems like a proper artist rather than a pop puppet.

I respect her artistically and reading the lyrics to 'Price Tag' they have great sentiment behind them.

She also seems very down to earth in interviews I've seen.

God,don't post in here much and now my post here and in the Beyonce thread I'm sure people will think I have as bad a taste in music as Ampersand lol.

I had a good idea she could sing but vocally she was much stronger live than a could have imagined, and her crowd banter was self effacing, funny and engaging.

Really enjoyed this set, and the final song with the little girl from the crowd was actually a proper Glastonbury moment.

Exactly this! One of my highlights, and she sat in her chair the whole time - what a performer! Thought her banter was brilliant.

dragged the other arf along as I wanted to see her but he wasn't fussed.... one of the biggest crowds I've ever seen at the other stage..... he wasn't particularly bothered but turned round after she'd sung the first line of 'Mamma Knows' to see him completely agog and stating "f**kin hell what a voice!!!"

thought her crowd interaction was brilliant, she's got one hell of a set of pipes and found her quite refreshing

My guess is she'll be pretty big by the time June rolls around. She'll either have a JP or Other Stage slot and I'll aim to be there for it.

Hardly the hardest prediction I've ever made but it certainly came true. The Other Stage was packed (busiest I saw it all weekend, though I didn't catch any of the headliners).

I'm sure they're glad they moved her from teh Dance Village where she was initially billed.

I thought she did a great job. Bringing on the young girl was a nice touch. If she carries on like this it'll be the Pyramid next time...

Her crowd made it very hard for me to enjoy The Twilight Singers properly. That said, I soldiered on and what a gig they were. Shame I had to enjoy the gig with an ever swelling group of disrespectful and bored teenage girls and their obnoxious male tagalongs. Grr.

I felt for the fans of the Twilight Singers towards the end of their set as the crowd started to build. They were pretty good too, strangest name though? Jessie just blew my memory of seeing them away, so thanks for reminding.

You really think she will still be around in two years time?

Not a chance. She's filed alongside Duffy, who I seem to recall also got an enormous crowd on the other stage a couple of years back.

These flavour of the month artists are just utter garbage who thanks to a massive marketing campaign manage to brainwash tens of thousands of people into believing they are seeing something special.

If you were in that crowd you are nothing more than a sheep who has a brain made out of plasticine which the marketing executives mould into whatever they please.

In 2013 it'll be some other bog average twerp with a shouty voice, mark my words.

I honestly think she will be. It's certainly true that the history of pop is littered with "flavour of the month" acts who have disappeared without a trace (an excellent thing in many cases)

Much the same as Katy Perry seems to have staying power beyond her first single, I suspect we'll see the same with Jessie J. There seems to be a bit more to her than we've seen from other acts in the past. She's got excellent stage presence, what comes across as genuine personality and she can clearly sing (though the presence of a backing track always annoys me)

As an example, Adele has been around for 3 years and is more popular than ever (thanks to some pretty wonderful pop songs). Clearly the second album when it comes, will be the big test.

I'd still put a bet on a Pyramid slot in 2013.

The main body of Glastonbury is nothing if not a reflection of popular culture at a given moment, with the more niche elements providing what we like to think of as the true flavour and identity of the festival.

I buy some of your argument in terms of the power of marketing but that's pretty much true of all "popular music" i.e. the same accusation could be made of anybody who watched any act on any of the main stages.

It's fair to say that Jessie J appeals to the younger crowd, who may be seen as less traditionally Glasto. It's worth rememebring that these are exactly the kind of people that ME declared himself desperate to appeal to to ensure the festival has a future. My guess is they will have noted teh crowd she attracted.

There will certainly be some bog standard twerps appearing in 2013; my guess is that Jessie J will be there with them...

Adele has already released her second album "21" and it's been a massive hit.

I quite like Jessie J, but there's something about her voice that annoys me, just a bit whiney and high pitched for my liking. Can't really compare it with Adele who has one of the most soulful voices out there at the moment. I'm sitting on the fence as to whether Jeesie J will be around in 2 years time. Maybe, maybe not. She already has quite an established career as a song writer though so perhaps has more longevity in her than the Duffy types we've seen. On that subject thank God Duffy has disappeared, her voice sounded like a little Welsh lamb bleating away... ear bleeding stuff!:lol:
