The rewards scheme is kind of working out in that nobody seems to want the options drinks, they prefer the star stickers they get if they lose weight. The most popular biggest loser of the fortnight prize appears to be a bottle of weight watchers wine so i needn't bother with the salon or whsmith vouchers.

My mate's went from being 16 stone to about 11.5 stone. He looks ill, probably just because I'm used to seeing him with a bit of weight. I thought he either had AIDS or a Heroin addiction, turns out he just goes to the gym alot.

I don't think you can think about it like that - for it to have any kind of permanence it needs to be a lifestyle change, not a 12 week diet or whatever. That's why the best 'diets' are realistic ones that are easy to follow and teach you how to choose foods wisely (and cook, preferably!) and can be continued forever. The goal should be a life of eating well and exercising regularly, rather than a size 10. I think it's also about being honest about what you can really achieve - setting unobtainable goals just frustrates you into giving up altogether.

Now if only I could practice what I preach!

oh yea I agree a lifestyle thing, permanent

i just meant it's hard to keep motivation - I find the best way is to set short term goals, once those are achieved set more short term goals etc

rather than saying 'I want to lose 30lbs in a year' which is going to take some time, shorter/smaller goals can be achieved quicker keeping motivation high - just my opinion though :)

one thing is with losing weight..you can't really drink, too many calories, extra calories on top of food = fat gain

same with stuff likes crisps, we only have a coke machine/crisp machine at work, so tempting to get crisps when im hungry..but like 1 pack takes 30mins or so to burn off on the cross trainer
