Leyser
Just saw this: http://pitchfork.com/news/41492-tv-on-the-radio-return/ TV on the Radio are set to release a new album in 2011. This acclaimed band has worked with David Bowie, Trent Reznor, and members of Blonde Redhead, and Yeah Yeah Yeah's. The album will be titled Nine Types of Light, and they have already announced tour dates in the States. They have played R/L before and could be a good shout for 2011

jump
I hate it when people use acronyms as you can't figure what bloody band it is.

jump
I meant more in general. Can't wait til next month when loads of random threads/posts start appearing saying "What are the chances of BMTH/TBS/CIWWAF etc, playing?", the only other thing that is more annoying to me is when people start asking if this fairly small band are playing because they are too stingy to spend £15ish to see them at their own shows. Leyser
Well I certainly agree with that, I don't like when random threads are started for no apparent reason other than they are a fan of the band. I thought this deserved a thread because 1. They are releasing an album in the spring, and have played Reading before, and 2. They are a REFORMED band, threads were started about DFA 1979 when that news came around. Fair enough though, there is going to be way to many pointless threads soon about Line up LEAKED!!! and Where thee f**k is Beady EYE?!!?! j-j-j-j-joe!
I think you're both over reacting a bit. Acronyms are annoying, but I don't think there's anything wrong with people occasionally mentioning bands and wondering whether they'll be playing. As for the comment on people being too stingy, that is utterly ridiculous. There are innumerable reasons why people might be asking about the chances of a band being at a festival, rather than going to their tour. (the fact that they might not be touring being one of them.) Especially when all the other threads are either dominated by trolls or fantasy line up ones.

mrtourette
I agree to some extent but I also think that a festival is a unique setting. To keep flogging a dead horse I'll go and see Soundgarden at Brixton if they eventually tour the UK and it will probably be a better gig than a festival slot but I'd also love to see them in the open air while the sun is setting. Weezer could have done exactly the same as they did at Reading last year in any venue and I don't think it would have been as good an event due to the surroundings and reaction of the crowd. I go to plenty of gigs but I also definitely look forward to seeing bands in a festival environment.
kev1664
I remember one tight bastard from a few years ago and asked about someone and I replied to him something like "no, not this year but they are doing a full tour a month or two later" and he posts back "that's so unfair and they are my fave band and I never going to see them play now" and said back to him why not just go their gig and it never occurred to him before that he could. It's not an isolated incident either they will pop up next month, and it's always the people who go to 2/3 gigs and a festival in a year and think that's a really high number. Truth be told I'd rather see those specific bands I like at their own shows as it's longer than the 30/40 mins they would get at a festival and more often than not a better crowd too. mrtourette
The big difference is at a festival you will only see weezer play half a set compared to their own gigs.
