I'm still finding stuff to support the notion that more life is being lived now than in all of human history.

Maybe the 24.3 average years of age is incorrect.

That number sounds very reasonable to me.

It might be that we're defining it wrong, but the total years lived now compared to total years lived in human history can't be true,

if the 100billion is right of course! If its lower than that then things start to converge a bit better

So 40% less than 1YO and 60% at 10YO. Quickly run that one through the equation......

That would be 40billion in effect not totalling any years (underestimate)

and 60billion at 10 years, which is a total of 600billion years

So all in all that's 600billion,

We're dividing that by 100 billion though aren't we? So that would be an average of 6 for those that have lived? Taking into account the under-estimation? That's compared to 24.3, which is the average for those alive today?

Am I being mathematically thick? Wouldn't be the first time.

With those figures, then yes, the average age at which those 100billion died is 6, and those 100billion will have amassed a total of 600billion years. For the 7billion people alive today to have amassed 600billion years they will need to have an average age of 85

So it very much depends upon the dubious figure of the dead, which is bizarrely worked out by a retrospective projection of European life expectancy from between 1800 and 2011.

i dont know how true this is...

a guy i know went to uni with someone who was very rich and very much overly babied by his rich parents

he discovered weed in his first year, and smoked ALOT of it

he failed his first year

his parents were shocked by his failure, as he had always been a straight A student, when asked as to why he failed he blamed his 'addiction to cannabis'

his parents sent him to the Priory, to cure their poor son of his addiction

whilst at the high class rehabilitation centre, he was given two pieces of advice by the nurse....

1 - don't do bongs, they will send you mad

2 - don't use skin packets as roach paper, when used inside a spliff the paint will heat up and mix with the smoke, causing you to inhale very bad chemicals, causing paranoia amongst other health problems

I'm just curious as to how the 1st person would discover it, as I can't imagine 2 people are in the pub and then suddenly realise it as they are chatting and I can't imagine some mathmatician decind it's the best use of their time.
