Dave The Hedgehog
Just face it, even if you don't like Muse, they are going to blow your balls off at Reading.
Role Model
Sadly flashy light aren't really what gets my rocks off these days, especially when the soundtrack is Muse.

jump
This is very strange, MCR arguements break out in the other threads all the time and in the MCR thread an arguement about Muse breaks out instead.
Cydonia_90
I'd eat my own arm if they did a secret set for Origin in its entirety in the Lock-Up Jesus Christ, that'd be something else.
beards
Origin of symmetry wouldn't really work in the lock up... There's nothing punk about anything that Muse do. They should just force them to only play songs from Origin and Showbiz anyway, or whatever as long as there was nothing from Resistance, particularly any of the exogenesis symphony blah blah blah. Here's a drunk Matt Bellamy for your enjoyment.

Joshuwarr
MCR remind me of the annoying guy at school who was always so popular for some crazy reason, when you always considered him to be a bit of a prick. Then you see him again a few years later then you realise he is an alright kinda guy. Thats how I see MCR.

mrtourette
I'm glad you started posting here dude although the spam is a bit annoying. Keep it up though
mrtourette
1. Have played third here before and headlined another festival, so have experience. 2. Natural progression of bands up the bill to headline status is good for the festival and industry in general. 3. Will attract younger/next generation of fans to the festival thus securing it's future. 4. Have received heavy praise from NME and Kerrang and get a lot of airplay and Radio 1 and music television channels so appeal to a broad range of music fans. That's about all I can think of. Whether they outweigh the negative points is another matter.
harderfaster
MCR are bad, but Beady Eye & Unkle Make Matters Worse.
mrtourette
The "the line-up isn't good because I don't like the bands" point is a perfectly good reason not to like the line-up but should be reserved for internet forums and down the pub. Whether the bands are good or not should really come into a serious article as it's entirely subjective. IMO
jump
Ha...I don't agree with JJ who wrote the article but it's his piece. He's a typical ranter type. We all have different personalities and writing backgrounds, try the other two, they are wildly different in approach and style, more analytical. We do have the by fans for fans tag, so while I can edit people's pieces, I can't turn everyone into fair unbiased journalists.
Banana Co
This is an awful article. I quote: How can you say that as if it is anybody's opinion but your own? UNKLE are fantastic and as far as alternatives go to MCR I think they're pretty good - they appeal to an entirely different demographic. jump
Can't be bothered to read the articles but Soundgardan weren't available as they were in frame for Download but then decided they didn't want to play fests yet and Kayne West is a pretentious c**t. jump
Well they played Lollapalooza in 2010. Granted we're not saying they could have got them, but if they were talking to Download, they could have thrown money at them or talked to them, especially as Reading is the end of August. I wouldn't say the option was 100% off the table because Download couldn't get them. Ha as for Kanye...most headliners are. Have you heard Win Butler talk music =P
jump
I'm not saying he didn't either. I'm just don't think it's fair to say, based on the Download experience they were completely off the table. Plus, I thought Melvin was shooting down booking Soundgarden at the BBQ last year? Or was that Pearl Jam. I'll ask Cameron.
mrtourette
I think even the staunchest Soungarden fans (hello) realise that their relevance and suitability to R&L isn't guaranteed and that they'd more likely to either headline Download/Soni or sub R&L. jump
Huh? I didn't go to the BBQ, how could I have said anything of the sort? Unless Melvin had a telepathic link to my Birthday party. All I remember posting on this forum is that he categorically ruled out Tool. Edited May 13, 2011 by jump
jump
Ah indeed on the Isle Of Wight Forum. I thought you were implying I was reporting it here. No fair play, on the IOW forum I would write something like that, as saying, someone I know on the Reading forum said that the reading organiser said, is kind of redundant when 99% of the users don't care about the Reading. But I wouldn't write that here or on a Reading site.
