MCR

Both NME and BBC articles could easily have been misquoted to make them sound more interesting. Also can he also quite easily claim that when he said "no other festivals" he meant England, as most people are aware of that general policy anyway, or UK, since they won't be headlining T.

Basically, unless they're headlining another festival in England, you could end up with egg on your face if you're ruling them out.

Didn't Jay Z headline Glasto and then sub somewhere else that summer? Surely if the biggest festival in the world could do it so could R/L, especially with MCR being more relevant to the R/L crowd than at T.

My feeling is that they will be headlining, or subbing. I don't think they would fit in the NME tent.

The interesting thing is the hate towards MCR this year. I don't believe it was to this extent with Arcade Fire last year (as a general consensus between general or hardcore music fans)

perhaps there wasn't the same 'hatred' for AF, but there was a very similar amount of disbelief that they'd be the headliner.

And the 'hatred' thing is quite understandable, for why it exists for MCR but didn't for AF. AF had passed a lot of Reading goers by, while the same isn't true for MCR because they're a band that are squarely in the same 'scene'.

I see MCR bagged two wins at the NME awards last night including best international band(!) and best video. They must be popular in somebody's eyes? Still, I hope it means that NME are crawling up their ass to headline the tent at Readng and second stage at T.
