t8yman
I may go sub ohm at some point, been enjoying the setup over the weekend, and really appreciating not being smelly, not having to sneak outside for a fag, and not craving a fag. I know it's only diverting nicotine addiction, but my sense of taste is returning, I wake up feeling more rested and "clearer" and I don't have to deal with nicotine withdrawal. Got some great juices including one called Heisenberg which has a fruity but difficult to pin down flavour, and pinkman which has tones of pink grapefruit, and also an awesome lemon sherbet flavour. Digi
I've spent the afternoon experimenting. Even without steeping the difference in flavour is massive! I've made 18mg batches and after that felt a wee bit strong, dropped to some 12mg batches. I'm now not convinced the nicotine content in premixed juice is that accurate at all as I can really feel the nicotine hit much more in what I've made myself I now have 300mls of different flavours and only stopped then when I ran out of 30ml bottles as I only bought 10. I got sent a freebie 'Black Jack' flavour which is strangely moorish despite strangely smelling like curry.
t8yman
Black Jack is famous for cracking non-glass tanks, so beware.

Even without steeping the difference in flavour is massive! In which case i'd guess you've over-used the flavouring.I always use 15% in what I make, but I guess how much you need will vary dependent on the flavouring you're using.Letting it stand for a while makes a massive difference to how it tastes. With the flavouring I use ('Amber', from Decadent Vapours) it tastes far less smooth and more chemically if it's not left to stand for a while.I've been making my own juice for around a year, and have just worked my way thru the first litre of PG (tho I do have 100ml+ of made-up juice on the shelf). The savings from having done that I estimate at over £500 for very little effort.

The savings from having done that I estimate at over £500 for very little effort. Its possibly just down to me using 'fruity' flavourings - I bought from a few different places - some more expensive than others just to try them out - all of them taste so much better than anything premixed I've had with the exception of stuff from Steamgunk, and I mixed the first few bottles at 15% and dropped it down to 10% because I actually found the flavourings pretty strong. The black jack mix was a freebie and I thankfully use glass tanks Strangely even with a past 30 a day habit I have just never really liked the tobacco type juices and I really was the type to 'enjoy' the taste of a smoke and still have done in the few times I have lapsed in the year or so I have been vaping. My other half tends to like tobacco flavoured juices and my 'girlie fruity crap' he reckons taste 'better' freshly made than his does which is in the top of my wardrobe steeping
eFestivals
if you google, there's a forum thread on a vaping site which gives 'recipes' for making juice with the different flavourings available - which should be useful for seeing how much flavour you need to use of any flavour. t8yman
I've noticed a huge number of people vaping over the weekend, more people vaping than smoking in most of the pubs I went in.
bucko
i've just had a full weekend (thurs-monday) at a festival using a kanger subtank mini 0.5ohms and cloupor mini. i had two 18650 2600mah LG batterys so one being used which lasted all day and night and the other on charge back at the van. i had to refill the tank once each day. very pleased with how this all worked for me and i'm ordering the same setup as a spare or different flavour option for my next festival. I'd have trouble not getting thru a 'normal' tank of the same size which gets used about 1/3rd as quickly. Subtanks are great, but the juice disappears waaaay too fast compared to a 'normal' (non-sub) tank.
nightcrawler13
Neil, would you say a Kanger Sub-Tank and a iStick 20 provide a "perfect" vaping experience? I'm looking to upgrade from my vape pen after years of buying them I smoke 0 nicotine, so looking for something that can handle VG with ease so I can get strong flavours
eFestivals
Neil, would you say a Kanger Sub-Tank and a iStick 20 provide a "perfect" vaping experience? The iStick 20 won't run a subtank - at least, it won't with the sub-ohm (less than 1 ohm) coil being used (it will work for the other coil that comes in the box, which is 1.2 ohm coil, I think). You need the iStick 30 to run a sub-ohm coil. As for whether it's "perfect" or not will depend what you want. While I like the subtanks (I have all three of the versions) I find them a bit hot with their vapour (which I can feel on my lungs), and so tend to use more-standard tanks most of the time. I'm looking to upgrade from my vape pen after years of buying them I smoke 0 nicotine, so looking for something that can handle VG with ease so I can get strong flavours VG is nothing to do with flavour. The only real difference between VG and PG is that VG creates more 'smoke' and is smoother to 'smoke' than PG. PG gives more of the 'throat hit' which you get from ciggies. In both cases the flavour molecules are 'transported' in the vapour in the same way. What does alter flavour is the coil ohm-age and the voltage/wattage that goes thru it. For example, my Subtank Nano gives a distinctly different flavour from the same juice depending if I use the sub-ohm coil it comes with or the other different higher-ohm coil it comes with. The higher ohm coils seem to give a bigger flavour, tho they give less 'smoke'. I'd still say the best tank I've used is the Kanger Aerotank Mini. I now mostly use a Kanger Aerotank (full size) on an iStick 20 because of the bigger tank and bigger battery, but I still prefer the Mini on a variable voltage eGo battery. nightcrawler13
well blow me down, I'm using a kanger genitank mini, I didn't even realise, I assumed it was an above average off brand one.... it seems that the aerotank mini is only ' a bit better' than the genitank mini, according to some youtube guys maybe i should just stick with what i have? nightcrawler13
genitank is made by Kanger, it's got the same coil but instead of being steel and pyrex it's chrome plated copper and glass to bring down the price I tried one in a shop last week and the amount of smoke blew my mind, but I guess my cheapy one does the job and it's silly to blow loads of moolah on something that does more of the same.... i'll maybe invest in a cheap one with variable voltage Edited May 27, 2015 by nightcrawler13

nightcrawler13
I've also realised on top of all of this that I'm about to spend two months living in a field working at Glastonbury, so carrying around £100+ worth of equipment on a festival site is silly... I'm going to buy a Kamry k1000 to tide me over till after Glastonbury, what tank would you use with it? http://www.ecigwarehouse.co.uk/kamry-k1000-wooded-style-epipe-kit.html

t8yman
they look quite good, the mini looks very similar to my eleaf mini, which sell for between £19.99 and £27.99 depending on where you get them from, and thats without the tank, which will be £15ish for something decent. I did wanr that supplier to do what was right, else they were going to pay a heavy price. )
t8yman
Just treat myself to a nautilus mini. Wow, its a massive improvement over my anyvape P16. not that there was anything wrong with the P16, but this is like a ferrari compared with a skoda! build quality feels far superior, and it looks and vapes beautifully. if people are starting out, splash the extra tenner or so for a nautilus. one of the things i like more is the bigger airflow, I dont like a hard drag, and this is perfect for me. seems to produce more vapour too, probably because the coil is apparently a bit more hefty. I paid £25 for the tank, and £12 for 5 extra spare coils. I know I could probably get it cheaper online, but this was the local bricks and mortar shop, where you can try anything before you buy (including all of the juices she stocks) and I like the shop and wish to support it. t8yman
Are you sure? The coils in my p16 cost about that, and I was told they were kanger coils, a customer told me these are lasting him about a month? Not claiming i know more (cos I don't)
