rabid
Would you say that of coffee? It's just a different high. To elaborate..... It's just a case of what type of drug you prefer. Stimulants give you a hit while depressants, like those you've mentioned, give you an altered state of consciousness. Coffee, nicotine, sugar, cocaine, adrenaline etc all give you a hit rather than a sustained altered state. I much prefer stimulants to depressants, though I do love getting drunk. I don't think it's the same though. Nicotine addicts are using it so much that there is no longer a noticable hit from it, I guess in much the same way as 'adrenaline junkies' have to keep seeking bigger and better thrills to get their hit because merely throwing themselves off a building becomes mundane. t8yman
The way I am approaching it is this. I am addicted to nicotine, it costs me money, makes me smell, and is basically killing me. I have tried many times to quit, and obviously failed on many an occasion. It will almost definitely appear a defeatist approach - many people quit cold turkey every year, but If I can carry on getting my fix whilst not stinking, and not killing myself (or damaging my health anywhere near as badly)then I am happy for the foreseeable. i will also get my sense of taste back, and not have to go outside for a fag. And I wont put on any weightlike I would if I chucked the fags

Same can be said for cannabis and alcohol, it's just a different type of hit. All hits decrease in their effect the more they're used and the point of addiction is when the desired effect is normalised.
t8yman
I cant wait till the novelty wears off and I just use it for the cravings. I've been vaping all day in the office! ordered some flavours, cos I dont really love the one I've got. ordered a vanilla, a lemon, and a black cherry flavour. The vanilla is coming overnight, dunno bout the other two.

I know, and that's the situation with most smokers hence my comment about wasting money. It's not the situation with most drinkers or cannabis users though, they still get the effects they're looking for even if it does take a bit more than it used to. It's not the situation with most drinkers or cannabis users though, they still get the effects they're looking for even if it does take a bit more than it used to. That's exactly the same for all drugs. That's precisely why people smoke more and more and more. It's of course much easier to smoke less frequently, thereby feeling the impact of the hit more. But you can say exactly the same for the effects and habituation of cannabis and alcohol intake. As I said, it's all preference. I find seldom things more pleasurable than a nicotine hit and I like that it doesn't alter my consciousness like canabis and alcohol does, it just stimulates my cognitive functioning in exactly the same way as coffee. worm
which happens to a much greater, or lesser degree, depending on the drug. I thought with nicotine, once you're addicted, all you're doing is taking it to achieve 'normality'... ie: to combat the withdrawl symptons Same with every addiction. It's that state of being that marks addiction. If you aren't doing it to achieve normality then you aren't addicted. Of course, nictotine is the signle most addictive drug known to mankind, so it's much easier to find yourself in an addictive state. But it's a fallacy that people who smoke are addicted to nicotine. t8yman
Do you find the hit a lot cleaner? yeah, although my tongue has been shit for a few days, I think I burned it over the weekend. and I'm completely overdoing it on the vape. I need to give myself an hour without touching it to see what the hit is really like. what juice do you use fella?

You can get all different flavours, but I prefer the original one. I've not bought the juice to refill it, though that may be a cheaper option. Plus, if you want to save some cash you can refill with plain old water.
worm
do you mean not everyone who smokes is addicted to it? In essence, yes. The addiction to smoking is not necessarily the same addiction to nicotine. Smoking is an oral fixation, whereas nicotine addiction is an association with an oral fixation. modey
JUst seen this thread, the wife is trying hard to pack in the fags and i think something like this might be just the thing to help her, does it actually rep;ace the need to have a smoke? And this can be smoked indoors with no worry about the smell of smoke etc? How long does a refil last on it, and which one did you buy t8yman? worm
Does it actually replace the need to have a smoke? And this can be smoked indoors with no worry about the smell of smoke etc? It transfers the need to the e-cig. And there's no smell.
t8yman
modey as the wormster confirmed - it transfers the need onto the ecig. I am genuinely impressed with the build quality, and the amount of info out there on vaping. she will basically get her fix from the ecig, and no - there is no smell, I vaped a good 10 draws on mine in the car yesterday, with my mate sat next to me, and he said he couldnt smell a thing. there is no flame, just vapourising of an "e-liquid" or "juice". its quite confusing, theres a lot of jargon, but after a day or so of casual internet research I know my atties from my passthroughs. the one I bought might not look very pretty, but the uk "vaping community" are raving about it due to its ease of use. its the tornado tank, I bought it from here and if you use the code T4BE699 at checkout you will get a 7.5% discount, I used special delivery (which wiped out my discount basically) and it was here at 9am the next day. you need to understand, the atomisers are "semi disposable" and can cost up to a tenner each but if you know what you are doing you can get them for as low as £2, they are basically a heating element, and liable to burn out, apparently they can last from 2-16 weeks. although they are guaranteed for 28 days afaik. the juice is available in hundreds of flavours with variable nicotine strengths, and you would be very lucky to find the perfect one for you without trying a fair few. I was told yesterday, 1ml of juice is about 24p, and 2.5ml of juice is equivalent to about 15-20 fags. so a 20 a day smoker could expect to use 75p-£1 worth of juice a day. factor in maybe 2 atties a month (cos you will need a spare) and you are looking at under £1.25 a day. no smell, no health issues, no going outside, you get your taste back, and you can vape where you like. t8yman
if you do order some, make sure you order plenty of spare juices. I didnt, and had to fork out more yesterday to get juices shipped that I could have had shipped with my original order.

t8yman
I had one last night at my mates. it was a marlboro light, and it was shit! none today, and I've been up since 4am, I would normally have had about 8 by now. I assume its a bit like smoking shisha but without the smoke.
t8yman
wormy likes the gamucci, so far be it from me to say he is wrong, he has obviously been vaping longer than I have, but i joined ukvapers.com, and the common opinion seems to be "looks like a ciggie = not gonna perform very well" read this short thread properly if you can be arsed http://ukvapers.com/topic/4064-advice-please-as-ive-made-a-wrong-choice/ I've just taken delivery of some "very vanilla" from Totally Wicked's "decadent vapour range" in 18mg strength - and it is lovely. I think 18mg is my strength, although I have ordered some stronger stuff I expect to arrive early next week. but all in all I have bought about 70ml worth of juice so far, which should last me about 6 weeks I reckon. yes, its a lot like a hookah. only the "throat hit" seems a bit higher with the 18mg juice. worm
the common opinion seems to be "looks like a ciggie = not gonna perform very well" read this short thread properly if you can be arsed It's all a bit over-enthusiastic and novel though. The Gamucci, and e-cigs in general, can be considered premium vapourisers. To confirm, I'm a bit fed up of the build quality of Gamucci's stuff. The vapouriser starts to under-perform after one or two drops (you will drop it) as is the case for the batteries. You can also get pens as well, which are the classic e-cig design. But I find the smaller basic cigarette shape pretty cool and has the benefit of trend setting too, as I found when I took it to the local rock club in 09 and spawned a load of interest from smokers including the DJ who now vapes. worm
I had one last night at my mates. it was a marlboro light, and it was shit! That's how I feel about traditional cigarettes now. Dirty*, smokey, weak, horrible tasting with an immediate and angry craving. Hardly any hit, but a tonne of crave. * Not in the resentful anti-smoker sense. t8yman
I'm still learning how to get the best of mine at the moment. the vanilla stuff is great, i like it more than the baccy one, but I am still working out wether the long deep draw is better than the french draw etc etc etc. ordered some ry4 which is widely regarded as the juice of choice.
