onemangang
I would much prefer Vampire Weekend.
chickenfire
I think someone needs to calm down about vampire weekend.... But I think they are better mid-afternoon on the main stage rather than closing the tent. Instead just get soundgarden, manics and some generic indie band for the NME headliners and be done with it
j-j-j-j-joe!
vampire weekend are absolute garbage. there so boring, the lead singer cant sing, the guitarist cant play a note. there sub rock, sub indie, there at best pop. horrible little scum bag band. they should sub for muse on the main stage and call it blah blah day. purplehaze81
I think Vampire Weekend are one of the freshest sounding bands around at the minute. They're unique, they don't sound like anyone else and every song has a different sound to it. It may not be the most technical music, but it's fun and uplifting music. Perfect for a summer festival. onemangang
stereophonics or the manic street preachers to headline the n.m.e, with pigeon detectives sub.

onemangang
tbh stereophonics are to big to do the n.m.e, they were still doing areana tours last year. maybe 3ed/4th on main not sure they would except it tho.

kev1664
I'd probably watch them if they did play the NME as headliners.
thetime
Bollocks the Stereophonics are too big for the NME. I don't even think they're the kind of act that gets booked for R&L anymore anyway.
rexclark
2000 was a cracking year, it's the only time I've been to Reading rather than Leeds. I never saw the Stereophonics that year either, gutted I missed Tom Jones coming on with them though!
saints15
Extremely unlikely, but does anyone think that there is a chance that Primal Scream will headline when MCR are headlining main?

saints15
As much as I'd like to see Primal Scream there, I can't see it if they're doing Bestival the week after. I have an inkling that they'll be at Glastonbury this year too.
Dave The Hedgehog
That's what I assumed, would be an amazing alternative to MCR though. I would say the NME headliners are probably the hardest to predict, it wouldn't surprise me if Chase & Status play on the Saturday like Pendulum did last year, but I have no idea about the other two days Edited February 19, 2011 by Dave The Hedgehog
bennyk
Crystal Castles and Pulp for the other two days, I think. Maybe Glasvegas if their album does well. Mumford and Sons would be a contender but I'd be more inclined to shove them on the mainstage at risk of losing the general "f**k me, this is intense!" atmosphere of the tent. Dave The Hedgehog
It wouldn't surprise me at all if they are at V this year.
saints15
Mumford and Sons will go to the festival that offers them the best spot on the line-up - if they are headliners at V, what would be the point playing lower down the bill at Reading and Leeds taking into account Melvin has assured us that the headliners are exclusive? And vice versa.
kev1664
The only obvious ones I see are Mumford and Sons and Florence, then maybe Vampire Weekend and White Lies.
jump
What about the more obvious ones of Biffy Clyro, Dizzie Rascal, Pendulum, even Bloc Party & MCR
