I think Dizzee could headline. He has all the drive and all the pulling power to do it. Wouldn't be a bad move for the festival imo, with Reptilia & Smells Like Teen Spirit as backing tracks to Jus' A Rascal and Stand Up Tall respectively, coupled with the rumours of a rock/metal album in the works, I wouldn't say he was out of place either.

Chase n Status I'm not too sure on their standing.You may be right.

lost prophets should be in the nme they were so much better in 09 than 10 soeley becuase they were in the tent and the atmosphere was better for them

Fortunately I'm not one of those people who claim to know who is going to play and where they are going to play then. I do think Chase & Status will headline NME this year

I hope chase and status play about 5 down mainstage. I say this because when they supported the prodigy at mk bowl earlier on in the day they absoloutley killed it. There were moshpits with dance offs in (back flips etc.) and even a respectable wall of death. This makes me believe they go against the dance act is better later on in the tent theory.

Give em a big field and they will bloody well play in it.

Hence why I mentioned them, wouldn't surprise me if they are on at the same time as The Strokes (if they play) a bit like Pendulum and Arcade Fire last year.

It would be much better in a tent, dance music seems to come across better under canvass. Youtube their DJ set from 2009, I don't think it would be so great open air (saw them headline Beach Break Live & Bestival main stage before the Prodigy this year). Just my opinion though but could easily headline NME with the type of crowd that goes to Reading these days.

Hmm yes ive seen countless chase and status sets at night time (in clubs) just that live set supporting the prodigy in the day time was so perfect. Think it was the large stage which helped though as they simply rose to the occasion

Dizzee Rascal will be playing V, so fortunately we will not be graced with his presence at Reading.

Not confirmed just highly likely due to them playing the NME Awards Tour but last year The Maccabees played main and Bombay Bicycle Club didn't play at all

very true. I think crystal castles chances of playing are that high tbh, they've played the last 2 years at least touring their latest album as well and I don't know what would've credited them to go from third down to headlining the tent

Most years I'd say it just coincidence that most the acts on the nme tour play reading, seeing as they both cater for the same audience. Don't think melvin and co. will be after crystal castles just because they headlined the nme tour

Can't be arsed trawling through the 8 pages, but has Brandon Flowers been mentioned for a solo stop on the NME stage? With him playing Hop farm and a couple of others. Reckon he is in with a good shout, mid to high slot maybe? Would love to see him personally

I could see him in the Serj Tankian spot from last year. Both from bigger bands, both attempting to go solo and do something 'different', both with the same sort of appeal to people who are 'unsure' whether to accept them out of their bands or not. Mid-place on the NME stage at best.

Kele was fantastic last year, i don't know if anybody saw him but he was bloody marvellous. If he plays again it can only be a higher, saying that i really can't see him breaking through into the top 3 on NME

I would say Brandon flowers would probably play higher than serj but not massively, as he is from a more mainstream band. His solo work has not been a huge success but I would guess he has sold more than serj.

He probably has more appeal to your casual Reading spectator that has nothing better to do than Serj, though?
