Terry Beezer from Metal Hammer always bangs on about how great they were live, and I normally agree with Beez, but the darkness are f**king shite. I'm not bothered if they do get announced, as I will be watching Korn anyway. I'm just gutted that people are encouraging them to reform. I was happy when they f**ked off the first time. why not just stay f**ked off?

Does anyone else get that feeling that Download are paying Thrashits to really talk up their future shite announcements to soften the backlash? I mean a few weeks ago before Def Leppard got announced Thrashits did a poll on who everyone wanted as the 3rd headliner and Def Leppard ran away with it beating the likes of Tool, Soundgarden and Van Halen. And going by the huge backlash no way did people want Def leppard over those 3! rigged! and now thrashits the heavy metal website are talking up The Darkness as though its Led Zeppelin reforming for Download. Yes a shitty flash in the pan band that would be better off on Top Of The Pops and V Festival. Fishy, im just not buying it.

Fail of epic proportions.

Here's why:

There is no call for them to re-form

No one has ever said "how about The Darkness for Download" since 2003.

Their last tours they were playing to empty arenas

Their latest album (or to put it another way - 50% of their output) bombed,

They're a joke band and the joke isn't funny anymore (and hasn't been since festival organisers mistook their (brief) popularity as a novelty act, as sub/headline material - anything above 5th-6th is above their station, and ability)

Justin Hawkins (that's his name right?!) is so hated he was bottled and booed off stage in a "Hot Leg" support slot for Alter Bridge who don't really strike me as a band with angry fans (incidently that would be the band they would be following if they are playing Friday)

They are responsible for the worst headline performance of a festival ever (worse than RHCP by miles - at least they didn't run out of songs!)

They were never good, just briefly popular, and that's not something that will translate well to the Download crowd.

I reckon they'd get a worse reception than MCR would, and rightfully so, at least MCR are relevant.

the second album bombed but there were some braw tunes on it. girlfriend is amazing too! i'd go and see them. permission to land was a genuinely amazing album.

don't get this whole 'novelty band' angle. they're not the smurfs or the fast food rockers!

I would say you were in the minority if you do like them. I'm well aware many people do like them, doesnt make them a popular choice for download, and theres nothing wrong with people voicing theiur opinions. just because you might not agree dont mean they are wrong and you are right.

I stated above why I'm pissed off, I'm pissed off someone has encouraged them to get back together!

I'm a little bit more miffed (and this is nothing to do with the darkness), because theres a chance I might not even see Korn, cos I'm guessing they are gonna clash with times of grace, which I wont be missing. the 3rd stage is gonna be f**ked on the friday. a festival with quite a sparse choice of bands for me, and I have a major clash on day one. I really dont see why tog are on 3rd stage?

you're 100% correct with this statement.korn have a huge and loyal following and there is no band who can realistically make these fans miss korn so,yeah,if darkness are playing the best time is when korn are on so we dont miss someone we want to see.

although,i have talked to a few people who say that even though they will be watching korn,they are still cringeing that darkness are sub headlining and they find it embarrassing .i cant agree with this train of thought,if im watching korn i dont care if lady gaga is subheadlining the other stage.
