Guckeery
Are the only reasons the chili's were recieved so badly in 07 because of sound problems and their excessive jamming?-which tbf they do a lot since thats how they come up with new material. I've seen the performance on youtube and i didn't think they were bad though i know it's not the same as being there and their set list was poor. I still find it hard to believe that a band with such a great live reputation messed up at 2 venues even after the long touring

mrtourette
If they come up with new material by jamming then best to keep it in the rehearsal studio, not onstage headlining a major festival that people have paid a lot of money to attend. I don't recall their being sound problems, just the attitude that they brought on stage and consequently the show that they put on.

Guckeery
well tbf the sound at Reading is always shit and i can understand people not liking the improv but if thats what they enjoy doing we can't stop them after 2 years of playing their hits they were probably sick of it. hopefully they're a lot better when they come back after their new album
thetime
out of 15 years going to festivals, rhcp have been the worst headlining act from any festival I have ever seen. and theres been a few dodgy ones.

rexclark
Please god not The Chillis. I'd rather have The Darkness playing their second album in full.
irons
I was thinking of heading to Leeds, but these rumours don't fill me with confidence tbh. Is it worth the trek Rex? If I can't get Glastonbury tickets then Leeds would suit.

irons
It's a good festival, normally quite a good line up. The only thing I'd say is bad about it is you get alot of dicks, but then again you get alot of dicks at TITP and i wouldn't say it's much worse. I've been to Leeds eleven times and I've never had a bad weekend so I'd definately reccomend it.
rexclark
Cheers mate. I didn't realy try for Glastonbury tickets as I wasn't working. I am now and chances in April might be slimmer, but I'll drag the Facebook crowd into it. But if it fails I might fancy a change anyway and Leeds looks a bit of an option, thanks again. irons
Well I'm sure you'll be ok for Glasto, there'll be plenty of us trying for you.
Spaceboy
I've seen the Chilli Peppers 4 times over the years. They were once a truely great live band but there performance got poorer every time i seen them. Leeds 07 was atrocious. They looked disinterested and if i remember correctly they played 1 pre-Californication song (Give it away). They played recently, the genius John Frusciante has left and their talents have declined. I'm a big fan of their earlier material but i wouldn't book them. I say give it to someone different that actually gives a damn. (not MCR)
Vieuphoria
"their earlier material" - as in the stuff without John? But yeah 2007 had a truely awful setlist
Bisque
I could be wrong but everytime I have seen MCR at Reading, & I haven't for very long eg after Fightstar in 2005 & I can't remember when else, haven't they bombed quite badly with the crowd? Could be different for Leeds. If they do headline there better be a decent band on in NME as quite honestly having them as a headliner is a bit od a dissapointment compared to some of the more prolific bands Reading could have.
