The Nal
some people have unnatural advantages over others anyway, just by their physique. Maybe letting them take what they want could level the playing field?
windy_miller
Nothing. Thats how he always sings live. In surprising news, that female shot putter from Belarus has been stripped of her gold for failing a drugs test. Who would've thought?! Steve P
Make drug taking mandatory in the olympics, it's the future
dingbat2
Eric Idle was brilliant. Should have had Bowie there playing you know what song over and over again Lennon and Mercury couldn't even be bothered to turn up in person, and performed through a live video link up. At least Elton John wasn't there
fred quimby
Playing Lennon's Imagine - meant to be some sort of cruel joke?
dingbat2
Then the people who have unnatural advantages over others anyway, just by their physique would also take drugs so no gap would be bridged. It would just come down to who can take the most drugs.
Yoghurt on a Stick
Why bring sport into it at all, we could just have the "who can take most drugs" Olympics. We would excel at that. Each drug can have its own event, plus there can be a medley with a combination of drugs

rug568
I think the Olympics is quite hard to fuck up personally. Even the Greeks managed to pull it off.

lost
dunno if ive imagined it but doesn't the Ioc guy normally say this has been the best Olympics ever during his closing speech, can't remember him saying it last night
Ed209
London took it all in its stride and I thought there was a great atmosphere in the city. All the transport worked fine, it was easy to get around, the pubs were full with flags and tourists, people were smiling and even the weather wasn't *that* shit. I thought these olympics were fun, friendly, enthusiastic, ambitious, inclusive, entertaining, and exciting. Mo winning the 10 and 5 thousand meters was an iconic moment of the games and in the history of British sport. a symbol of modern British multiculturalism and an embodiment of what these games had at their heart. emotional stuff Edited August 13, 2012 by Ed209
Ed209
sports personality of the year is going to quite a contest. There will be double gold winners who wont even make it in the top 3 I think it should be Wiggo, Mo, Ainslee But imagine it will be Mo, Wiggo, Ennis
The Nal
No Jess Ennis? "The face of the Olympic Games"?
dingbat2
Murray and Chris Hoy should be in with a shout as well. Murray finalist at Wimbledon, and Olympic gold and silver Hoy won two golds, 6 in his career I would go for: Wiggo (nailed on I reckon, at least should be, to win the TDF alone should guarantee him the award) Hoy Murray or Mo or Ainslee

dingbat2
I think they used the phrase "best games ever" at every Olympics, which made saying it totally pointless. Then they got to Atlanta which clearly was not the best games ever, so they couldn't really say it. And I believe since then they never say "best games ever" which seems sensible to me! Ed209
Barcelona and Sydney are generally considered to be the best two post war games, I now think you can easily add London in there too
