Deadline tonight then. I decided I would apply for some, it'd be nice to take a couple of days off work next summer to get involved and be a part of it.

I applied for one of the preliminary round football matches at the Millennium Stadium, and a handball quarter-final in London. Handball is quite cool, think it'd be a laugh. Both 4 x £20 tickets.

Hope I get at least one of them... Perhaps not both as I'm poor. Anyone else been tempted at the last minute?

I was always going to apply, and finally got round to doing it over the weekend. Going with my parents, which is a little sad, but none of my friends are overly keen.

We've applied for;

Men's 100m final

Another evening of Athletics

Evening of cycling

BMX finals

Evening of swimming

A couple of days on centre court for the tennis (my mum's choice)

An afternoon of handball- that's the banker :P

It's £947 if we get the lot, but I highly doubt we will. I'm

a bit of an Olympics geek. I've been to Barcelona, Munich, Sydney & Atlanta and have loved seeing the remains of the games (Stockholm too, but other than the stadium there wasn't much left 93 years after), so just to go to the park and be around the buzz would be great.

Applied for : Hockey, Diving, Swimming, Beach Volleyball, Judo, Boxing, Table Tennis, Athletics and Basketball.

Going to do two trips down if I am lucky enough to get them all. Its going to be an awesome event.

I went for CAT C tickets for each of the event. Going to cost a small fortune. How far did you lot stretch ?

I think my chases are low overall :(

I've applied for mid-competition gymnastics (artistic) and women's hockey as i used to do gymnastics (plus it's one of those sports where you can watch and be all 'wow') and my mum used to play hockey when she was younger. Put myself down for 4 tickets for each but really don't know who will be able/want to come if i do get the tickets.

That's basically it- the £947 I mentioned above is for 3 people, and there's next to no chance we'll get them all. Its definitely once in a lifetime for my parents (mum born 1950), and most likely for me. Gotta be done basically!

I reckon there'll be a lot of less-popular tickets unsold, once we know what we've got we'll try and pick up other things to go with the time down there. Also probably some football at Old Trafford once we know the teams.

I just don't agree with those saying that it's too expensive. £20 or £35 is competitive with any old theatre or arena gig these days- and £50 for up in the gods at athletics is very comparable to being at the back of a stadium gig.

Edit; forgot to say what I came to say; We've gone for mostly category D, with some C-D's in there. We shall see!

Failing all that, I'll just get a job at Deloitte or someone and get on the sponsors gravy-train :P

Personally think it is unfair for people to get hold of tickets other people would want, stick them on ebay and make a killing. That would be totally unfair... If you end up with an unwanted ticket then why did you apply for it in the first place ? Thats pretty crap on someone else IMO.

Its very fair there will be way of reselling your tickets. There should also be a lot of tickets up for grab which you can buy outside of the ballot so no need to apply for tickets you might not want / need.

Nothing for me so far- still almost a month to go though!

I saw that bit on BBC breakfast- the guy had applied for£35,000 of tickets- madness!

They also said that one person had applied for £700 of tickets, and had had £400 taken, and then later £300 taken. Whether that is payment being taken in stages or an error I don't know.
