Gothenburg83
the commentator said that the Ukraine will hope to get their own back on England in the Olympics after what happened in the Euros! What a ridiculous comment to make

Yoghurt on a Stick
Shouldn't you be in the air right now - or are you? Didn't see the vaste majority of it so can't comment. Heavily suspect it would be though. I only found out tonight that it cost £27M. That's f*cking disgraceful.
Ed209
I don't begrudge spending 27 million (50p per person) on something like that which is good for the human soul when we spend billions more on blowing people up. Heading off in a few hours. Had to watch it on NBC, which was hilarity in its own way. Especially the commentary through the parade of nations. Such gems included "Winston Churchill called the Ugandan people the jewels of Africa, well he obviously never met Idi Amin" and "here's Madagascar, best known for the popular animated movies" Edited July 28, 2012 by Ed209

Chavmeisterdeluxe
I haven't watched the telly at my own house for about a year and a half now. Until tonight that is, when my brother called around and asked for the telly to be put on. This was late so I missed the opening ceremony. Did this bloke really do this or is it just that the camera has caught it this way? I've looked on line and can't find the answer, but I am a little intoxicated so that may explain that. Or not perhaps.

The Nal
When the athlete himself, who lost 6 brothers in the genocide, is quoted as saying that, I think that's okay to mention.

AcademicPistol
They wheel him out now to close out any old shite. Live AID, Concert for NYC, Live8, Olympics. Where were Townshend, Weller, Mick and Keef, Madness, Jimmy Page, Ray Davies etc etc? Its like "Oh lets just get Macca to do Hey Jude". And I love Macca. One of the greatest ever humans. Minor criticism though. It was a stunning opening ceremony.
Gre
Heineken is £4.50 a pint (at least at the beach volleyball), which isn't bad for London - I paid £4.55 for Tubourg at Brixton Academy last week. The Nal
I do agree but i would have personally like to have had 1 or 2 of your aforementioned 'legends' instead of Dizzee or Arctic Monkeys instead of Macca. But i guess they didn't want to over do it with legends which is fair enough. Edited July 28, 2012 by The Nal
