I've already put my money down, and they are three of the most uninspiring headliners I have ever seen. There better be some damn good bands lower on the mainstage, and on NME, FR and Lock Up. I have a feeling I will spend barely any time at the main stage this year.

I probably still will go regardless though, because all my friends are and I'm a sheep who bows to peer pressure. :)

A returning Strokes is fresh, not my cup of tea but fair enough.

Muse,my favourate band in the world.

My Chemical Romance is interesting. If the album hadn't already been released and tour sold so badly I would of looked at it as them stepping up to the plate. As it stands I think this will be the pinnacle for them as I don't see them headlining anywhere else again.

i've gone to reading every year religiously now since 2004, and this is the first time ever for me, it depends on the line up.

but tbh the headliners don't mean that much to me. i'd be pretty chuffed with them as i'm a big fan of both muse and mcr. it's lock up and lower main stage i usually keep a look out for :)

Nah, looks like this will bring about my Reading retirement.

I want to go to my usual small festivals and can only manage 2 biggies so I fancy Bestival, Download have Rob Zombie & System Of A Down and my mates want to go to Soni for Slipknot plus the Big 4 so I don't have any space for this. This might change if they got something quality (it doesn't even need to be headliner) like Daft Punk, Mighty Mighty Bosstones or House Of Pain I might grab a day ticket.

The Strokes is good for people like myself who were too young to see them when they first came on the seen.

Muse I'm not too fussed about, will see them if I don't like the other bands on at the same time but they are meant to be one of the best live bands around.

MCR I really don't want to be there but it is good that they are getting a chance to headline rather than the same bands headlining festivals every year

If these 3 bands are the headliners, will you still be putting your money down on tickets for the festival?

Sub-question - if you have ALREADY put your money down, would you be disappointed?

I bought my tickets , back in August !

The Strokes - Wonderful

MUSE - Saw em at Glasto and at Leeds last time - Huge act and a coup for Mr Benn

MCR - Could not give a rats

Anyway most fun we had last year was in tent for Foals , Band of Horses , We Are Scientists and LCD

so providing NME tent is upto scratch again I am a happy bunny !

:):)

It's funny saying that, you know, because if I think about it, I spent about 3 1/2 hours max on Friday at the main stage watching Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire, and bits of other bands, about half an hour or so there on Saturday watching Limp Bizkit and then the final 2 hours on Sunday watching Guns N Roses. I spent very little time at the festival at the main stage because there were always far better bands on the smaller stages - especially the Festival Republic stage.

Even if the headliners are shit, there'll still be something on another stage. I just think it's nice to be able to end the day with something that's actually good on the main stage - but then what I think is good (or shit), is subjective.

*cough*... Soundgarden... *cough*

Covonia won't shift it from the back of my throat.

My fingers are crossed for Soundgarden on the main stage and Suede on the NME stage - that would be my ticket right there. I'm going to pay attention to lower down the line-up and see what other bands are on the main stage but if it's nothing to go mental about then my 2nd festival of 2011 will be somewhere else in an as of yet undisclosed location. I may sod off to Download for a day by myself to see Rob Zombie or GWAR but apart from that I will probably settle on Latitude. Definitely not Glastonbury or V. Sonisphere would be nice but I couldn't persuade the missus to go as Metal isn't really her thing, and she doesn't understand the importance of Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and Metallica being on the same stage.

Got my ticket in August - Leeds always finishes the summer off nicely for me and I normally prefer a lot of acts on the smaller tents so headliners definitely don't make the festival. In saying that I always get excited waiting for the line up announcement and would probably be slightly disappointed in these three headliners.

The Strokes - want to see - as long as there isn't anything better on a smaller stage

Muse - I love them but I've seen them a lot. Would only go and see if there was absolutely nothing else going on

MCR - Not my thing - other tent or plenty of drinking back at the camp

'Soundgarden' would make me very very less disappointed :-)

I agree they're a massive booking and easily big enough to headline and right, but it was the coup bit that i didn't agree with. 2003 and 2005 are the only years in the decade they haven't played big outdoor gigs or played festivals.
