Strokes: would be very happy, one of my favourite bands

Muse: think they're a solid booking and will put on a good quality performance

MCR: not happy one bit if they headline, so I won't be seeing them. and if all other stages are bad I may consider going home early.

I will definately buy a ticket. Headliners in my opnion don't make a festival, it's what else is on before them!

*cough*... Soundgarden... *cough*

Covonia won't shift it from the back of my throat.

My fingers are crossed for Soundgarden on the main stage and Suede on the NME stage - that would be my ticket right there. I'm going to pay attention to lower down the line-up and see what other bands are on the main stage but if it's nothing to go mental about then my 2nd festival of 2011 will be somewhere else in an as of yet undisclosed location. I may sod off to Download for a day by myself to see Rob Zombie or GWAR but apart from that I will probably settle on Latitude. Definitely not Glastonbury or V. Sonisphere would be nice but I couldn't persuade the missus to go as Metal isn't really her thing, and she doesn't understand the importance of Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and Metallica being on the same stage.

I only saw Blink headline last year, Radiohead the year before & Rage/Metallica before that on the main stage. If you go with a fun set of mates it shouldn't matter who's headlining.

Just Muse for me this year then I guess, couldn't give a monkeys about The Strokes or MCR. Saw Muse at GLasto so not really that bothered but I'm sure my friends will want to go! I'm sure there will be someone decent to watch on NME. If not I'll have a sit down in front of main stage/NME & have a few beers with my friends.

But I would be dissapointed if the guys who run Reading/Leeds think that MCR would be a good/worthy headliner.

I bought my ticket back in August/ Sept.

For me its the best 3some of headliners there's been for some time, I have not seem the Strokes since 04ish, Muse since 07 perhaps and have never seen MCR, so all will be relatively fresh and all are bands who interest me on one level or another.

Its probably the first year in my 14 Reading's so far where I've genuinely been looking forward to all the Headliners

Muse -Would be very happy

Strokes - Not overly bothered, but would like to watch them

MCR - Would rather someone else, but i know a few songs, and if theres no one that interests me on in the tent, then i imagine i would quite enjoy them.

Pulp and prodigy - would be chuffed with both

Elboy - not fussed on them

I've already bought my ticket, but looking at the t in the park line up, particularly the headliner/subs, i would probably be a bit disappointed with these headliners.

I'll still be getting my ticket in March. I'm not really interested in any of the headliners, Muse I can't stand, The Strokes I've seen loads and found them quite boring last year at Rockness and MCR, I'll actually give them a shot. I watched MCR at TITP a few years ago and was quite impressed, It was more a heavy Glam Rock set than Emo. Although I know alot of people don't think they're up to it I think they could put on a decent show.

In 09 I wasn't interested in any of the headliners, infact i hated them all, the undercard didn't impress either but I still had a great weekend, seeing some new acts and i spent alot of time in The Alternative tent. All in all there will always be plenty for me to see and do at the fest.

Have not read the whole thread so just answering original question.

I have bought my tickets already and although I am not really impressed with the suggested headliners I don't really care. We all know that a festival is so much more than the headliners and I will wait for the full announcement before I pass judgement.

I am pretty sure I will have a good time whatever.

BRING IT ON!!!

3 acts dont make a festival, im going to wait till the annocement theres always other stages to go on if the headliners dont impress.

im sort of looking forward to mcr headlining anyway (if they are headlining) they have a few good songs and from what iv heard of the new album it sounds alright. not keen on the strokes tho and muse are alright will watch if there is no one else on the other stages.

Could go either way. I can see it being some strong sub headliners but below that who knows. I expect a mix of your usual acts that play every festival and a few surprises thrown in as well. It's all down to taste really but I do think this year will be a real mix between the sublime and the unreal.

I bought my ticket in the presale, so I'm definately going that's for sure. I've seen both The Strokes and Muse and, although they are great live I was expecting something different than that. We could have guessed Muse years ago as they play so many festivals every year. So yeah, kind of sucks but there's more to a festival than it's headliners.

However, now that all Downloads headliners have been announced we can pretty much say that MCR will be headlining Leeds now, which is awful awful awful news. I'd have no problem with them playing if it was lower down, somewhere like T in the Park has got them but not as HEADLINERS. worst booking they've ever head, maybe minus The Darkness.
